We will be going to Vero the second week of September and we will be staying in a beach cottage, I am wanting to get info on the individual cottages and which one affords the best beach view. We stayed in a cottage years ago and at that time there was heavy vegetation that blocked the view from the down stairs balcony. We were at Vero about 5 months ago but I really did not pay that much attention to the fact that the overgrowth is now gone. Does anyone have any info if all six cottages now afford a direct view of the beach from the bottom balcony? If anyone has pictures that would be a bonus. Thanks.

None of the beach cottages, to my knowledge, has a downstairs balcony. All the bedroom windows face the ocean, but you don't walk out there, and frankly, they weren't set up to have a view from there. When you leave the bedroom, you enter a foyer, and you can walk out the door that's there, which faces the resort. It's a neat porch with a porch swing. There's a set of stairs in the foyer that goes upstairs to the second floor, which is an open floor plan of living room, kitchen, dining room, and two balconies, one facing the ocean, and one facing the resort, and both of them were huge, easily big enough for 10 or 12 people. The beach houses are stunning, and all have wonderful views of the ocean, since they are in front of the main part of the resort. These are easily the most impressive of the 3 bedrooms at any of the DVC resorts!

About a year or more after the hurricane damage, I went down on the beach by way of the walkway being used at the time, since the original one was not quite finished. All of the vegetation is so much less than it used to be (along with the beach being wider). I do remember thinking that the two cottages near the south end would definitely have an ocean view from the first floor balconies. I, like you, could not see anything from the first floor before the 2004 hurricane.

I thought there was a downstair patio off the bedroom that looked onto the ocean, but I beleive the vegetation is blocking the good views. I'm not sure any cottage has the best view to be honest.

1475 certainly has a downstairs balcony - I believed they all did. Here are some photos from Jan '06 - downstairs balcony off the bedrooms

Have a great visit! You can't beat the beach cottages!

I can vouch for 1450 as well. There are doors off of all of the bedrooms to the lower porch. There is no beach access from there though because of the sand dunes but the view is great.

This picture is from last Labor Day.

We'll be there again next weekend - yeah!

I'm nearly certain they all have the patios on the lower level. There are actually 4 patio/balconies. Prior to the 2004 storms, you couldn't see very much from the bedroom patios due to all the vegetation. While it's nice to have the added view, it's sad to see that the beach has lost all of that "natural protection." You can see where they've re-planted a lot of sea oats....

They ALL have balconies/decks top and bottom, front and back. They al have vegetation regrowing which will somewhat obscure your view (more so as time goes on and this is needed). But the view from upstairs is and will remain top notch!! The cottages do not disappoint!

If you open the door you do. All the bedrooms have doors leading to the downstairs, oceanfront balcony

We were just there earlier this month, and all have a great view with perhpas the exception of the northern-most cottage. The vegetation was pretty heavy in front of the upstairs, oceanside balcony and it looked like it may not have had too good of a view. We were in the next cottage to the south of that one and had a spectacular view! The downstairs oceanside balcony (yes, there is one off the bedrooms) had only a so-so view.

One point - the no-seeums were terrible! I hope for your sake that they might be easying-up, but some of our group was actually forced to go inside. If the breeze is good, this probably won't be a problem, but if not, they could be bad. You might want to consider a portable fan to generate some breeze (battery-operated since there are no outdoor outlets), and we were advised that an oil-based bug spray works well, as the no-seeums can't bite through the oil. We tried Cutter Advanced with some luck, but they were still annoying.

Have fun - the view is fabulous!
