Question on Ressies for DVC & cash

I don't have enough points to stay at BWV for our whole trip (at the 11 mo. mark but I'll have enough at 7 mos. from transfer at SSR). If I want to pay cash for the rest of my stay, do I have to move over to the BWI?

No, you can make a cash reservation at BWV. You can do that through Member Services and sometimes there is a 25% discount available as well.

Please don't flame me for asking - would paying cash for the room sort of "hold it" until the 7 month window so I can then book it with the SSR points I have?

No, this would be different inventory.

From what I've heard, only pool/garden rooms are available for cash. Boardwalk view and Standard view are points only.

So should I not even book at 11 months my first few days with a BW view because it would be hard at the 7 month window to get it? It will be a 2 bedroom and a studio.

I would guess that you should book as much BW view as you can at 11 months. You'd have a greater chance of getting the remaining BW view at 7 months on a smaller reservation than the entire trip...
Some others may have suggestions about which days of your upcomming trip may be most difficult to get, thus necessary to book at 11 months...
Then at 7 months, call to get the remaining days. If they do not have all days, then book what you can and waitlist for the remaining few..

We're going 1/08/10-1/15/10. So I am renting points for the first two days at the 11 month window, using my points for the next 3 days at the 11 month window, and hoping to use my transferred points at 7 months to finish up the last 2 days (Wednesday and Thursday).

I heard that marathon weekend 2008 there were no rooms available anywhere, so I'm booking those rooms first with the rented points. Hopefully that will work.
