My wife and I are thinking about buying into DVC. Starting out with 200 points. I understand that maintanence fees will increase every year or so. My question is, with for example the two vacations that we take every year will cost us about 185 points. Question is 5 years from now will the same trip cost us 235 points and 10 years from now the same trip cost us 300 points? Does the point chart increase every year so that we have to keep buying points just to continue our 2 trips per year Thanks

each resort's point chart AS A WHOLE cannot increase.

the point chart in any given component CAN increase, but must be offset by a comparable decrease elsewhere.

so if you expect sun-thursday nights will cost the same in 10 years as they do now, you may be disappointed. but weekend nights will have to get cheaper as a result. (right now, evening out weekend night and weeknight costs seems to be the goal of the point chart changes.)

if you expect 7 nights in early december to cost the same in 10 years as they do now, you may be disappointed. but if they increase that, they will have to decrease other point costs (in january or whenever) to make up the difference.

but for the most part, a week now will probably be comparable to a week in 10 years.

Your vacation which costs 185 points this year will cost approximately 185 points in 20 years. DVC can (and does) adjust points slightly each year, but the totals are always the same.

Think of each of your points as a percent of the resort. Your percent can't change.

Hope this helps. It sure is confusing until you are used to it!
