Question on new sony dvd mini cam?

I was wondering if anyone has purchased the new sony dvd mini cam. My dh is thinking of buying one for your upcoming Sept vacation. Any problem? is it easy to use?

Is this the one that records right to DVD? I posted about that one a few days and no one seemed to have any info on it. It looks cool though, and we're thinking about getting one too.

My DH bought this camcorder for me for our trip in December....the picture quality is great and it fits in the palm of my hand. It's easy to use...my complaints? The dvds to record on are something like $8 each and once you record a scene, you cannot delete it if you are using one of the two types of dvd that fit the camera. You can move the scenes around, so I guess you could put the scenes you don't want at the end. I'm sure as time goes on, the cost of the dvds and the camera itself will go down! Overall, I really like it!

How much can you record on a dvd? an hour or more? and do the dvds fit in the computer and dvd player you have?

This was one of the sticking points for me. When these came out around Christmas, I really wanted to jump on it. I spoke with a friend who is electronically smarter than I to get his opinion and he said to wait a couple of years. They record on smaller discs---not the same standard DVD size disc (I'm pretty sure about this, but not positive!) You would have to transfer the digital info to your computer and transfer to a disc.

Overall, he said the technology is newer so wait a year or two until the companies have the kinks worked out. It looks great, though. I'd like to hear more about it. If you can't delete them from the smaller disc, can you ever delete them???? i.e. if you were to transfer the images to a larger DVD??
