I hope someone can help me with this....

Say i own contracts at 2 different resorts. If I make a reservation at one of them at the 11 month mark but i would like to add on more days with points from my other contract, does the 7 month window start at the beginning of my original reservation or do i have to wait and call 7 months from the end of the first reservation?

Hope that makes sense...

Very interesting question. It really made me think.

I can understand the thought process behind disneycouple99's answer, and it was my initial thought, too. But now you have me wondering how the booking system actually works for adding on nights.

If you were requesting a brand new booking at exactly 7 months from your arrival date, you'd be allowed to book the first 7 nights regardless of which resort the points were associated with. So in essense, the booking rules allow you to book the first night at 7 months plus an additional 6 nights that are technically still in the home resort advantage period. You can then call back day by day and walk the reservation, adding an extra night onto the end of the reservation each day. In this case, the extra day you're adding onto the end is also 6 days into what's technically still the home resort booking advantage period.

I have no personal experience in doing this so I may be off base, but I would think the same 7-day rule would apply to adding nights onto an existing reservation that was made at the 11-month point with home resort points. My thought is that you can call 7 months from your check in date and add on additional nights, up to a total of 7 nights on the reservation, using your non-home resort points. You could then walk the additional nights day-by-day until you have the full length of your stay booked.

Others please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the input....

BirdsOfPreyDave I am hoping that's what I'm able to do. I'm currently only able to book 3 days at the 11 month window (used rest of those points earlier) and was hoping to add on more days at the 7 month. Since VGC is so hard to get I want to add the remaining days ASAP....every day earlier counts!

When speaking to MS seems like I've been getting conflicting answers so was hoping to confirm with someone who may have already done this.

Anyone?

There was a very similar post a few weeks ago. The poster was questioning why MS wouldn't let her do what you are trying to do. She wasn't able to add days because the extra days were still in the 11-7 month home owners booking window, if I remember correctly.

Since home resort points were used to make the initial reservation, only home resort points can be used to add on to the reservation until the 7 month window opens for the days that will be added.

That's correct, the non-Home Resort points may only be used for nights wihtin 7 months. Calling back anytime during the Home Resort priority period means that only points from that resort may be used - whether to make a new reservation or add to an exisitng one (based on availability).

If there is availability, you should be able to call 7 months from the original arrival date and reserve up to 7 nights from that date using the non-Home points and freeing up the Home Resort points. If there is no availability or a wait list, I would not suggest cancelling the original reservation though.
