Question on Magic Your Way Tickets...

I went to Disney in 2004 and purchased a 7 day ticket with multiple days for water parks, etc. These tickets do not expire. I have four days left, plus all water park options, etc. Is it possible to figure out what these would be worth if they were put toward the magic your way tickets. Could I trade them in toward a base ticket?

Park Hopper tickets can no longer be used to apply dollar credit towards the purchase of MYW tickets. That change went into effect on Jan. 1, 2006. So, even if you could determine their dollar value, you would not be able to use them for new passes. You can still use them for admission to the parks and waterparks (no DQ, sorry).

Yes, all tickets sold prior to Jan. 1 2005 (meaning all Park Hopper Passes) cannot be used for ticket upgrades or dollar value purchases. You can use them as they are for whatever park days and pluses remain on them but you cannot convert them to MYW passes. This policy went into effect on Jan. 1, 2006.

Thanks. Can you provide a link or some other reference, because I'm really confused. All of my usual sources seem to have the old information, including tour guide mike, and he's pretty reliable. But even mousesavers still says you can use an unused park hopper to apply the price toward a more expensive ticket.

And I called ticket research and they too told me I could apply the value (which wouldn't be that much) toward the new ticket. Once again Disney does itself proud with the confusion they cause. LOL!

How do I go about using the left over day on a really old 1980's five day park hopper? I know I have to transfer it to the currently used media form. My question is can I apply it to another park hopper and get a discount? Or would it be easier just to use the day as is and buy another pass?

Prior to 2006, you had two options: 1) ticket media conversion for old pre-1996 passes or 2) ticket dollar credit.

TICKET MEDIA CONVERSION - By converting your tickets to the current magnetic strip ticket media, you pay nothing and allow for the ease of use with the new magnetic strip reading turnstiles. Your magnetic strip passes can also be used in the FastPass machines. This allows everyone with any days left on their old WDW tickets to use them. You can convert these passes at any major park ticket booth or Guest Relations window at no charge. Once converted, the new tickets you get will be good at all four Disney Theme Parks.

TICKET DOLLAR CREDIT] - You could apply the prorated dollar value of the old ticket towards the current purchase price of a new ticket. Guest Relations will apply to your current purchase of tickets a credit equal to the ratio of days remaining over days originally bought times the *cost* of the original ticket. ***Remember this credit will be worth less to you in the form of a credit then what it is worth to you as an admission medium***. The per day credit will be less than the per day cost of the new ticket.

But effective in January 2006, Disney removed all but one option of doing anything with pre-2005 Magic Your Way tickets. Now, your only option with pre-2005 tickets is to use up the remaining unused days.
