Hi Ya'll, I had a question that maybe some of you could comment on or even answer. I have a timeshare which is not DVC through Fairfield which mind you is a horrible company to be doing business with, but besides that point. I have an extra week which was given to me through Interval Internation, what do you think is the possibility of my family and I being able to get a room in the Old Key West resort, or even the Saratoga Springs Resort? When should I book it by if its for June or should I just rent? Thanks

My understanding is that it will be fairly difficult for you to pull that trade off, but you never know. I would call tomorrow if you truly hoped to do that.

Good luck! :jester:

If you are looking for one specific week, I'd say the chances are pretty slim. However, if you are very flexible, you might get something. For example, we own another timeshare with high fees and crummy times (who wants to go to RI in winter), but it's fairly highly rated and well run. We deposited Thxgiving week in a 2BR in RI, and put in a search for all Orlando DVC resorts for a 2BR at any time from March '05 thru the end of '05. What we got for matches after a couple of months in the system was a 1BR at OKW in early May and a studio at BWV for September. We took the OKW 1BR in May and thanked our lucky stars.

Good luck!

can you look on II yourself - or do you have to go through II or Fairfield.

My online searchs seem to work better for me.

Anyway go join
www.tug2.net

you need to join because then you can look at distress/sights BBS. this is a great sight has a wonderful person who is constantly listing the DVC resorts that she finds - and boy she finds alot of them!!!

even a middle of the roads trader can find a DVC if you know where and when to look.

if you have a bonus week certificate II will tell you its not valid for DVC. I tried last year. I was able to book OKW in about 3 months of waiting on my regular week I deposited. Good Luck.

Fairfield is not a bad company to use for points though I understand they can be quite difficult to deal with on a corporate level. You may very well be able to use the AC (accommodation certificate) for DVC especially for a studio or 1 BR. And if you keep looking you may see something for June though times like Jan, May, Sept and Oct are more likely to be available.

This may be true for some but II has about 100 different types of AC. I have booked DVC with an AC twice including BWV though it's usually off season that comes up as available.
