Hi, not sure if anyone can help - my Parents split residency between Toronto, Canada and Fort Lauderdale - they have a condo in Ft Lauderdale but their driver's licenses are from Ontario.

They want to join us on our potential trip in Feb/04

Would Disney consider them Florida residents?

Thanks
Jason

I have a friend who has a home here in CT and a home in FL. She went to the DMV and got a FL driver's liscence. She did not have to turn in her CT license because she showed that she owned both homes. I guess tax forms etc... She is not home so I can't ask her.
I would go to the DMV and ask, or bring utility bills from the FL home to prove that you are a FL resident.

They might not need a Florida license.....They could get a FL ID card...I'm not sure what state dept. issues them, though..
Also, Disney will accept a "current utility statement, showing your name and Florida address, along with a photo ID" ........

I guess the best thing is to call WDW : 407-824-2222

(yeah me --- this is my 100th post !)

The DMV (or whatever it's called that issues driver's licenses) also issues State ID cards.

Disney ought to consider them FL residences, just make sure they have a copy of a current utility bill and that the name on the bill matches the name on at least one of the IDs.

Caseys been looking for you. Its sunday evening here in MD she is outside, Ill tell her i found you again. Ms. Caseys mom.

Funny this should come up. I have been talking to Disney on this very subject. I have a home with utility bills in Florida yet my primary residence is in Virginia. My DL is Virginia. Disney says I have to bring my utility bills AND a FLORIDA issued ID card. When I explained my situation again I got the same automated response. I am now waiting for an email from them where I tried to break it down a little farther.

So apprently what they are saying is that unless you have Florida ID, which I now have to go get when I am down there next weekend, you are technically not qualified.

This is what the FL resident's section of the disney website says:

Proof of Florida residency is required -- you must provide any one of the following:
• Florida driver's license
• Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)
• Current utility statement with your name and Florida address along with a corresponding picture ID
• Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID
• A college ID for a Florida college
• Florida-based military ID

Do they have passports? That should work for the utility bill + picture id. I don't see why that ID should have to be the FL issued one, because the FL issued ID stands as proof all by itself.

But I don't make the rules. :)

They do have U.S. passports since they have never given up their US citizenships after 42 years in Canada (good for them! - even though I am a Canadian citizen). That might be enough with the utility bill. Thanks for the reference notes copied over. I am also awaiting the efforts of another of the kind people who posted they are awaiting further clarification from Disney

Thanks Tons to all so far
Jason
