Question on buying Annual Passes

Hi! Need some help from the AP experts!
I am on line right now trying to buy annual passes. I thought I had read that you HAD to pick them up there with an ID. I am getting the option to have them sent to me by regular mail or by Fedex? So I'm confused...if I had them sent to me, they would not be "active" would they? I don't want them to be since we are not going until November.
We were going to purchase them anyway but my main reason for trying to buy them now is because we are going to be there during the time when they are supposedly having previews of Fantasyland for AP holders and I want to be able to get access to that information and possibly register for it.
So if I choose "Will Call" to pick them up when we arrive, will I get the info I need to register for the AP holders website before I activate the passes??

You will receive a voucher that you exchange at the park for the live AP.

You can access the AP website with the voucher. With Will Call, you won't be able to.

So does the 1 year start when you purchase the voucher or activate it?
