Can your mom walk a little? Would she be able to climb the bus stairs and if so, can somebody else in your party maneuver the ECV onto the bus? Getting off is MUCH easier.
I have trouble turning around enough to see where I'm backing up in an ECV. I explained this very politely to various bus drivers and got a variety of reactions - ALL POSITIVE. For example, since I can get out of the scooter, one driver backed it on to the lift for me. Another time, when a Transportation CM without a bus realized I was 'hiding' so the driver of the bus being boarded wouldn't see me and let/make me board that bus, she walked behind me up the ramp on the next bus to arrive (so if I did tip backwards, I'd fall on her instead of the ground?). Anyway, I'm very protective of my head and it has nothing to do with the DisneyLand incident
but I did fall backward with my head hitting the ground many years ago.
Back to DisneyLand - the very first time in my life I ever entered that park was about 10:30 PM on November 11, 2005 (more like 1:30 AM, since I'd flown from Boston that lonnnng day
) and, just at at Magic Kingdom, you enter the park under the railroad tracks, there's a curb cut ahead, then the circle at the beginning of Main Street. Now, I've visited WDW enough times to know that the circle has curbs and curb cuts (unlike the Hub at MK where the curbing is a illusion). Suddenly my perception of Main Street is changing - it's tipping sideways. No, wait - I'M tipping!
The first person to come running, before even a Cast Member could get to me, turned out to be a Physical Therapist! Really, I was fine - my shoulder, arm, and leg hit the pavement but not my head!! The PT propped it up anyway, CMs showed up, somebody said something about calling something/someone medical - I thought they meant an ambulance and heck, no way was I leaving the park that fast
but no, just the First Aid office
A CM diverted departing Guests around the scene; other CMs righted the ECV, I finally got up and - got to go to First Aid BACKSTAGE!!! Okay, fine - because the departing crowds made heading up Main Street um, 'difficult', and I explained that I'd been backstage in Orlando several times (including one non-tour, and one 'almost' except that it was pouring out). Physically I was fine, but I was shivering so stayed there about 45 minutes - but had to ride at least ONE attraction! Oh, right - Indiana Jones
Are you all sure I never mentioned this? Boy, that's what happens when ya send out 'on demand' trip reports instead of posting them....
