Why can't you meet Jessica Rabbit in the parks at disney world? I've always been curious about this. Is it because she's too sexual or not very popular or that it would be pretty impossible to get someone that looks like her?

Thanks!

The production companies of Who Framed Roger Rabbit are as follows:

Amblin Entertainment
Silver Screen Partners III
Touchstone Pictures

These companies, to my knowledge, are not owned/operated by Disney?

I know Roger Rabbit is connected to Disney, I believe through MGM but I'm not sure. You can see Eddie Valliant's detective agency in one of the windows on Hollywood Blvd in MGM and you used to be able to find Roger walking around.

To the OP, I'm sure that it would be nearly impossibe to find a woman that has half the figure that Jessica Rabbit had and a plastic costume would not look good me thinks. Also, yes, I'm sure she was just a bit too sexy for the parks. Too bad actually :(

We got our picture taken with Roger Rabbit at MGM I think back in '94. I recall seeing a large cutout of Jessica Rabbit somewhere in the park, but I think seeing her in any kind of real life form would be a little overwhelming!

I think they could do it if they tried. They even have a Betty Boop at Universal. She attracts alot of older males that wants photos with her. I think it would be fun to have Jessica Rabbit to take pictures with at Disney.

Touchstone falls under the Disney umbrella.

Jessica Rabbit is prominently featured at PI, but is way too sexualized for the parks, IMO!

I don't think I'd want to explain to my little one how Miss Jessica uses double-sided tape to hold that dress up! :rotfl2:

They have Jessica Rabbit pins though, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit Merchandise. They used to have a Roger Rabbit character you could meet...

There is a jessica Rabbit, but you will never seen her again.

mostly for several reasons above, and she si no longer in the popular culture.

Also when Who framed Roger Rabbit came out Disney made a deal with Amblin. That Disney had the rights to the characters for so many years then gave over majority control of them to amblin for several years.

Amblin now has that controll. So you will not see the Rabits for a long while. Once a long time ago somebody did come out as roger rabbit and got fired on the spot for it.

Touchstone Pictures is in fact a part of Disney and Jessica Rabbit and others from the film are most definately Disney characters. There is a giant statue of Roger Rabbit at Pop Century and a billboard of Jessica at Pleasure Island (or at least there was). On the Backlot Tour ride at MGM you can see the Dip Machine prop used in the production of the movie.

Here is an excerpt from wikipedia:

Touchstone Pictures (aka Touchstone Films) is a film division of The Walt Disney Company. Its releases are typically more adult than those under the Disney label, although some of its features, including Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) strayed to some extent onto Disney territory thanks to the inclusion of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and many other Disney and non-Disney characters in the former and the inclusion of the latter in the Kingdom Hearts series. Touchstone also has a television production arm, Touchstone Television.

Touchstone, which distributed WFRR, is owned by Disney. I'm not sure Roger Rabbit is owned by Disney, though. The film is based on the novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit by Gary Wolf. It includes many non-Disney characters, including those from the Warner Bros and Fleischer Brothers studios.

Back to OP: Jessica's absence could be because of her sultry appearance, but it could also be due to contract issues. Because WFRR was a Disney/Spielberg collaboration, and based on characters created by Wolf, I'm not sure what the terms were for use of characters in the Disney theme parks. I'm sure licensed merchandise--where profits can be distributed--isn't a problem. But I'm not sure how the licensing of character appearances work.

I've yet to see anyone in Orlando that could begin to pass for Jessica Rabbit!

If you can have a Jasmine and an Ariel, you can have a Jessica. Nothing wrong with being sexy in Disney. I just don't think she has a strong enough presence in "Disney Lore" to warrant a character.

However, I can think of at least one character from WFRR that will never, ever be a character as Disney (see avatar).

What?

Roger Rabbit was, for years, the "conductor" on the "orchestra" floats in the Spectromagic Parade. He has more recently been replaced by the Genie from Aladdin. They re-recorded the voice tracks, but the dialogue is virtually identical.

Roger was also prominent in other Disney parades.

You are exactly right!

I would love to see Jessica Out there...but I too think that it would be pretty much impossible to find someone to "look" like Jessica!

And as far as I know my The Rabbits are 100% Disney owned. The can do as they please with them.

Just as I was readong how it would be difficult to find an actress with the proportions of jessica for the parks, a commercial with Charo came on. All I could think was "No it wouldn't . . . ."

I thought when we were there in 2004 that they had some Christmas hats for sale that had something to do with Jessica Rabbit. I could be wrong (sometimes I mix up my dreams with reality :confused3 ) but I seem to remember them!

Jessica Rabbit is owned by Disney, but it's also owned in part by the aforementioned studios. Amblin is owned by Universal (hense the ET logo). The only reason there is more Roger Rabbit and/or Jessica Rabbit, is because of a conflict of interest. Disney is allowed to sell merch, but characters and attractions are a separate legal issue.

I think Jessica is just as sexual as Jasmine, IMHO

Hmm....Not sure re: legal issues. We rode the Roger Rabbit ride in ToonTown in Disneyland back in Feb.

I'm too new to post a URL, but you can see it on the official DisneyLand website.
