We have a reservation at the BC for the end of May. Both my daughter and I are Disneyed out for now. Is it possible to transfer those pts to say a beach vacation or would I have to bank the pts and then book the beach?
How do I book? Is it through member services or do I have to call the property myself?
Thanks so much!!

OK, I think that we need a little more information. What UY are the points and when are you planning on the beach vacation? Also by beach vacation, do you mean that you are looking at either VB or HHI?

I'm not exactly sure if I am reading correctly what you mean by beach location so I am just going to presume that you are referring to one of the DVC resorts beach locations - Vero Beach or Hilton Head Island :

You need to call MS 31 DAYS OR MORE BEFORE the arrival date of your BC reservation in order to cancel that reservation because you will not want the points used for BC to go into 'Holding Status' because then those points will carry restrictions on how they may be used to book a new reservation.

Once you have cancelled the BC reservation you can (in the same phone call with MS) discuss the reservation you'd want for either Vero Beach or Hilton Head Island ( again, I am presuming you are interested in a DVC resort beach location ).

I don't know what dates you'd want to travel for the beach trip but, if the points that you were going to use for BC reservation are from your current Use Year allotment and you are still within first 8 months of that Use Year you would be able to bank those points if need be.

Best wishes :goodvibes

Sorry for not being clear. I'm still learning the jargon :).

I saw the SanDestin listingwith Intrawest under the Buena Vista trading company. We live in south Lousiana and are looking for something w/in a days drive. Thanks again!

Oh and my use year is Oct.

Oh okay, you are talking about trading out to a non-DVC resort.

We have never used our points at anything but a DVC resort so can't offer you advice on the particulars and how best to go about it :sad2: ; sorry we couldn't be of further help.

There are very knowledgeable DVC'ers here who can jump in on this and help answer your questions; maybe you might want to start a new thread with trading out with Intrawest in subject line to get specific replies.

Best wishes on your planning :wizard:

Buena Vista trades are handled much as intra-Disney trades to non-DVC Disney resorts. There is a $95 transaction fee, and Member Services will make the reservaiton for you, based upon availability. If your San Destin trade dates fall within the same use year as the BC reservation, there should be no need to borrow or bank. The points, however, will become Reservation Points, meaning that if you cancel the San Destin reservation, you can not use the points at a DVC resort. You would need to use them for a cruise, non-DVC Disney trade, or another Buena Vista trade.

Getting the FL Panhandle for summer will be difficult to impossible. Still, no harm in trying. Last I checked you could schedule for 6 days or longer at 7 months AND 7 days out. Just tell them you want to use those same points but not to cancel if you don't get the reservation.
