Hi, we are concidering adding on through a resale. My question is, when making reservations can you use points from both accounts, and if so, can you split it any way you want. Example: Say your getting a 2 bdrm @ OKW for 24 pts. per night for 5 nights. Total 120 points. Could you use 115 from one account and 5 from the other. Or would you have to split it by the nights. 96 pts. from one and 24 from the other.

Thanks in advance

The answer is "It depends". If your resale contract is the same use month as your other contract, and the ownership is in the same names, then probably yes. I owned at VB and BWV and later added on via a resale for HH. Member Accounting cancelled the HH original contract number and gave me a XXXXXX.003 number for my HH points. XXXXXX is my basic membership number. I've not had any problems using any contract points for any location, as long as the reservation is within the seven month window. You can only use home resort points for reservations in the 11 - 7 month window.

I think if you have different use years or contract numbers that it would get more difficult, as you would have to be transfering points from one contract to another.

Points from 2 different resorts can only be used at 7 months. Home resort points may be used at 11 months.

Points can be transferred between the accounts- regardless of use year- but I've found it much simpler to book the nights from each contract without combining points. MS will link the nights together for you and you won't need to change rooms for the stay.

If there are special circumstances where you need to transfer points between contracts, it can be done. It does add some hassle to the transaction. However transferring points does NOT change the 11/7 priority for reservations- the non-home points still can't be used until 7 months.

Enjoy!

Points can be transferred between accounts, as Doc said, but only if those points haven't been moved before. A move can be banking or borrowing, so, basically, the points have to be in the same use year, like 2002 use year. If one group of points are, say, from 2003, you can't borrow them, and put them into a different account, because that's two moves. You can move your points between contracts with different use months, but it's complicated. You are better off treating your two contracts as separate--use one contract for the first 4 or 5 nights, and the other contract for the rest of the nights. Just be sure to remember how many pts are left on each contract, or you might "lose" them. I have three separate contracts, and I find it hard to remember everything without keeping a written record, but, then, I think I am getting senile in my middle age!

Not to scare you off, but a little food for thought .....

When allocating all points for a ressie make sure you tell them from which contract and/or resort you want those points pulled from. Sometimes if you have many add-ons, those points are on "another page" and don't easily show up to ms. Never assume they know which points you want to use.
