Question for those who drive to Disney down 95: BBQ food

I just realized I never updated this thread.

We ended up going to White Swan BBQ in Smithfield, NC. Very convenient to 95 but definitely a locals place. We looked (and felt) totally out of place there. The food was as huntwoof describes above - pulled pork in a vinegar-based sauce. The hushpuppies were very tasty. And the place was doing very steady business. It looks like it's been there a long time. If you're looking for Carolina BBQ, I would recommend it.

If you ever end up on I-85 heading south in NC stop near Lexington NC (the western Q capital) I personally like to stop at exit 94 and eat Lexington Trimmings BBQ. There you can taste western NC bbq. Pulled Pork again but with a sweet tangy red sauce. Once you have sampled each you can join the BBQ war and declare which is better.

Remember down here BBQ is a noun not a verb :)

Yep. We were a little surprised/confused when we looked at the menu and the options were Small BBQ platter and Large BBQ platter. That was all it said. No description at all. It didn't say BBQ pork or BBQ beef. It just said BBQ. We also noticed how the billboards down that way say something like "BBQ and Chicken" as opposed to around here where BBQ chicken is a thing.
