Question for those familiar with JFK and JetBlue

DW Lauri has to fly to Pittsburgh for a meeting tomorrow and is flying home Thursday. She has 1:10 to make the connection on the way there but only 35 minutes to make the connection coming home to Richmond.

Last time I flew into JFK was 20 years ago on a school trip to Europe and don't remember much of the details of the airport, and I'm sure things have changed since.

She's worried that 35 minutes may not be enough time to make the connection, plus it's the last flight of the day. Looking at the flight tracker info on JetBlue's website, she has to get from gate 4 to gate 20 or 21 on terminal 6. Is this enough time to make that connection, even if the flight is as little as 10 minutes late? Also, how is JetBlue's ontime rate? And how are they about contacting a flight to let them know a connecting passenger is on the way and to please wait?

She might try to get onto an earlier flight from Pittsburgh to JFK, but would still have to wait 4 hours until the flight from JFK to Richmond. A long layover, yes, but better than stressing over missing the connection. Of course, if she doesn't do that, she's got a long wait at PIT after her meeting and before the flight. Are there enough distractions at the airport to make that time spent less boring for her?

Thanks in advance, everyone. :)

I flew Jetblue last year from Buffallo to Orlando and it seemed to me that all of Jetblue's planes were in the same terminal. (very close) If I remember right it was a circular shape. Maybe some New York city people can help with this question. We were impressed with the airline and service! :thumbsup2

The JetBlue Terminal (at least last April when I had to make a connection) is all in one building. Strolling at a very leisurely pace, you could get from one end of Terminal 6 to the other in 10 minutes. MAX.

JetBlue's ontime rate in and out of JFK may actually work in her favor. We were early arriving at JFK from Ft Myers. However, we were VERY VERY late taking off from JFK. Their departure rate out of JFK seems to be what suffers, but in this case, it could be good.

I would make sure that the FA's on her flight inbound to JFK know that she has a tight connection, so that if it's close, they can have someone on hand to assist, and to let her flight home know she's coming.

The folks over on Flyertalk discuss this stuff ALL the time, and they are way more experienced than I.

Edited to add--there is a pretty sizeable Food Court in the JetBlue terminal, and the geeky suburban mom in me found the people watching at JFK to be utterly and completely SPECTACULAR. DS (age 9) was mesmerized by some of our more colorful travelling companions. :lmao:
