Do you get waxed before your trip or do you shave on a "as needed" basis? I usually go the wax route (painful but looks/feels fabulous) but I'm torn between spending the $100 now or saving it to spend during our trip.

I'd love to hear your thoughts :wizard:

I live in Florida--so I shave all the time, even in winter if I wear pants.

I guess I'd save the money for the trip. But it is a biased response...b/c where you are coming is where I live year round.

I hate the after effects of shaving (bikini), and it can be really time consuming to shave every day. Having said that, I was a long time shaver. Then I tried waxing, better, but I always had to brace myself for the pain. More recently, I've tried the laser hair thing. It isn't completely pain free, but the results last longer than waxing, and the more times you do, it the better the results. I still shave the rest of my leg, but so far, I've been able to get two free treatments for laser on my bikini.

Wax, Wax, Wax! I don't want to fool around with shaving while on vacation. I want to be able to jump into a swimsuit and go. The pain and cost is worth it to me.

Usually if I'm going away for a short trip, I'll shave. This last trip I waxed and it was the best thing ever. I didn't have to think about shaving the entire time!

I very rarely wax, but now its going to be part of my regular expenses. Its just easier.

I am pretty hairless so I only shave once a week during the summer, maybe once every three weeks in winter. I would not spend $100 on leg waxing. I do spend $15 on a bikini wax when I go away, it lasts me about 5 weeks. I wax about 3 times a year starting in the spring and then til swimsuit season is over.

I never wax, but if I did, I'd definitely do it before the trip. Just consider it another vacation expense.

I can not be professionally waxed in my bikini area. I bruised horribly. I also can not shave there either. I have extremely sensitive skin. For some unknown reason though I can wax myself and I have no problems.

Thanks to all who replied :goodvibes I decided to go w/the waxing, hubby actually insisted lol!

Have a great day everyone :cheer2:

I think I'm going to get waxed before our upcoming trip too, been putting it off and just shaving (which leads to horrible razor burn no matter what razor I use). It's 25.00 at our spa in town, that is for a normal bikini wax not anything spectacular LOL

I just fear the pain.....LOL I hope it feels better than shaving though....and wonder how long it last?

I wax from home. Even bikini. If I need help, hubby helps. He enjoys it. *sick and too much info I am sure* But it's cheaper and I can do it more regularly. So there is never much to touch up anyway.

Normally I wax, i was planning on waxing before this trip but I forgot and have been shaving. Not sure if I have enough time before this trip.

I waxed on my last trip and will be doing it this trip too! I hate dealing with shaving while on vacation! It's worth the pain and money

just a question... how much does it hurt... really? i've been thinking about getting my bikini line waxed, but i'm afraid i'm going to bruise like jsme said. i'm pretty sensitive to bruising as well. i also have the horror of '40 year old virgin' to thank as well. he gets his chest waxed and it bleeds like crazy.... brrr... :scared1:

Any after-effects of laser treatment (redness, bruising, bumps, etc.)?

To those that wax at home - what brand of wax do you buy????

When I was my lip at home I use Sally Hansen's Sugar Wax kit. I like it, and it does a good job on my mustache :) I've never tried my own eyebrows though, I just pluck between waxes for upkeep.

I'll have to post after next week and let you all know how painful the spa bikini line is. I'm going to a spa locally that is all natural and I've had facials and massages done there before. It's one of the most relaxing places as far as atmosphere, so I figured that might help LOL

I like Surgi-Wax. Funny thing - this morning I went to WalMart to buy some more as I ran out, went to the waxing aisle, and there were none to be found. I was really upset, I like this stuff alot, you melt it in the microwave, put it on, let it harden a little, then rip it off. You don't need those stupid muslin strips, works really good. Anyway, I was walking away, thinking I would have to go to another store, when I saw on the end cap of the aisle the clearance section which had several boxes of the surgi-wax - all on clearance. I was very excited, got two regular boxes, and one box of the "brazilian wax". I guess I'll be set for a while!! :rotfl2: Nice and smooth for WDW :Pinkbounc

I found a spa school nearby me that has a student clinic where I would go for waxing - their "menu" started at $4 for each underarm for regular wax, or $12 for strip.

Recently a laser treatment center ran a spcial though for the "lifetime" removal (bikini - whatever "size" you want) for $750 so I just went for that. I've spent that much, easily, in the last 3 years on waxing. In a year I'll never have to worry about it again.

Pinkness/soreness for a few days on me, but my skin is VERY sensitive. No ingrown hairs, if that's what you mean by bumps. Takes 6 treatments for the hair to go away forever, and the "current" hair should all fall out by around 5 days after the first treatment (it isn't always immediate).
