how many of you guys use a fannypack in the park. Carry snacks and such....or does your wife wear one

My husband wears one... his has a drink holder on the side... I asked him this year if he wants a back pack.. and he said no way..

I use a back pack.. mainly because I have a lot of meds , and I need a coat , hat and gloves etc.. and I carry some stuff for my son..

My DH doesn't, if he wanted to I wouldn't let him either lol. I have a backpack that I carry, once in awhile he will carry it.

Is a backpack a pain for rides though? I'm just thinking about snacks, bottled waters etc

I've never found it to be a problem. Although mine is never packed full. I usually just have a couple bottles of water to start the day and a few snacks (crackers, bars) and my wallet.

I don't and never would! I have a small backpack that holds all we need, never had problems with it on the rides. In saying that I am the only one who goes on the thrill rides so never a problem getting one of the chickens to look after it for me.

I know some people are opposed them. but they do serve a purpose.. my husband will have his water.. sunglasses, snacks and park maps. and his cap when on a coaster.. they may not seem cool to some people.. but then again some people don't care what others think of them.. if it works for you. it works for you . and if not. then cool.. it doesn't

I also have never had a problem with rides. I loop it around my foot if the ride is a big one, otherwise it works in the lap for smaller rides. We just share the holding of it, so we each get a break. Again a few bottles of water, phones, charger for phones, snacks, small camera. That's about it.

My husband has a small flat fanny pack that he wears, more off towards the side, but his tee shirt covers it. He uses it for his wallet and keys...he doesn't want to lose anything important out of his pockets climbing in and out of rides. Losing keys or a wallet on vacation would really stink!

That being said, I just don't get all the hate for the poor lowly fanny pack. Whatever works for people is fine with me!

DS is almost 14 and carried the Manhattan Portage City Lights bag. It's cross body. He can fit his wallet, change for pennies, a few pins, chapstick, sunglasses, Kleenex and a snack like a granola bar or small candies. He has a clip to add a water bottle to the strap. DS loves it because most rides he just leaves it on as it is so small. I love it because it's not, "Mom, hold my sunglasses, Mom give me my sunglasses..." all day long as we get on and off rides or come in and out of shows.

DH carries a very small back pack. It's kind of a child's size. It can fit the first aid kit, some meds, our gloves (we often go in January and it can be cool at night) and can stuff one or two sweatshirts (or at least could when DS was little). And a ziplock bag of snacks. We also carry a couple empty ziplocks for wet clothes or left over food we want to save for later. (DS had eating issues as a child so we would carry around sides from his meal the rest of the day feeding him a bite at a time of fruit or bread that came on the side) Often it gets filled with souvenirs. And he usually totes around a water bottle for me in there. It's not such a big deal to take on and off his shoulder because it's pretty small. But it just became habit when we started going with our DS when he was 2. And then he holds is, set it next to his feet or whatever works for that particular ride. I do sometimes see Dads with HUGE backpacks like they are carrying around enough stuff for an army and those seem cumbersome. Some rides don't have a lot of room at the feet or even the lap for something the size of a small child! LOL! I find that we carry just the right amount of stuff. And I can't tell you how useful my first aid kit has been over the years. It includes blister stuff and tummy meds and comfort items that just make life easier. But I try to be careful to unpack it and repack it every night so that he doesn't ended up carrying unnecessary items around.

Replaced my fanny pack a few years ago with a travel vest, basically a vest with many pockets.
Scott-E-Vest is excellent, and I own several different models.

The Tropiformer is my favorite for the parks, very lightweight with removable sleeves.

I would never wear a fanny pack but occasionally I will wear a backpack.

There is no way my husband would ever wear a fanny pack - When necessary we take backpacks. Never had an issue with them on rides!

I use one. Mostly because it's a safe place to put my wallet, phone, sunglasses and park ticket that would be nearly impossible to pick-pocket.
I suppose some think they're un-cool but I could care less about such superficiality.

I think DH and I will get some for the parks. We are going to try to find the ugliest/dorkiest ones we can so they're funny/ironic but still useful. Haha

I WEAR ONE A LOT AT DISNEYLAND! I CARRY ROOM KEY, CREDIT CARD, & WATER BOTTLE IN MINE. ONLY A COUPLE OF THE RIDES DO I HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF ( SCREEAAMMIINN, ETC. ). WHEN I DO TAKE IT OFF, THERE IS ALWAYS A GARMENT HOLDER OF SOME TYPE TO PLACE IT IN. :yay:

Never a fannypack, but since I take solo trips with my DD quite a lot, I'm often carrying around a pink or purple sparkly backpack with our various park stuff for the day in it. Nothing sexier than a dad carrying his daughter's blinged-out backpack.

My dad wears a north face one. It's sorta sporty. Aren't fanny packs coming back in style? I am starting to see young people wearing them. I wish they would make a full comeback. They are sensible and make easy. I remember being a little girl in the 80's and everyone wore them at disneyland.
