After just trying on my summer clothes to make sure they still fit, i realised that my legs may offend many people:faint: They are so white its criminal:scared1: So my question is, can anyone recommend a good tanning cream or spray tan? I've heard that some rub off on your clothes or react badly with pool water, is that true?
Any help would be appreciated TIA:)

Another one who has the same problem here :)

The stuff I use is Garnier Body Summerbody Lotion 'Sunk-kissed Look'.
It's one of those tanning moisturisers rather than a specific fake-tan. I used it last summer - applied it every day before I went and took it with me too. Just had to remember not to rub my legs hard with a towel or anything, just patted them down to dry. I just used it until I managed to actually get some sun on them :)

That does seem like a bit of work though, so my other option is just to embrace them instead!

For the next time I go, I was thinking of having a few sun beds before my trip to build up a bit of a 'base' :worried: I know this isn't for everybody though... They're not something I use regularly, but I know of lots of people who just use them before going on holidays...

Hello

Spray/fake tan shouldn't react with chlorine water but it will make it wash straight off!
If you were to have it done and aviod getting in the water for the first few days you can still tan with fake tan on!

There is a after sun that has a gradual fake tan in it if you wanted to keep the fake tan up whilst you tan under neath!

I wouldn't suggest sun beds though!

As I am very pale - I look odd imo with fake tan.

I do use those body lotions that build a gradual tan - johnsons do one and I have a different band at the moment (garnier?)

Have dug it out but not got round to putting it on yet.

They do them for light/medium or medium/dark. TBH I buy whatever is on offer.

Im so pale its actually quite creepy ( fun fact, I used to work in a hospital and Doctors used to ask if I was ok I'm that pale!!), but fake tan looks silly on me!!

I use the Garnier Summer Sun stuff, for light colour and just start applying it about 6 weeks before I leave, it builds up enough within a couple of weeks to make me look "british" then another couple of weeks to get a "glow" !

I am the same so pale I am blue. I had an aftersun lotion that added colour but the only problem was when I got up in the morning the bedsheets were brown!

I just embrace my pale skin and make sure I have on plenty sunscreen.

I tried fake tan once and it looked horrible I was almost giving tigger a run for his money :rotfl:

I can't use lotions or creams, even the gradual tan ones, I just end up with streaks....

I tend to buy a spray tan, I like L'oreal (it's the one that develops over a few hours) and give myself a light coating before we go! The only thing to remember is to pat yourself dry and not rub after swimming/showering... I have not had any problems with it running or washing off in the pool/shower, it just tends to fade gradually. After about a week or so when I have had the chance to get a bit of natural colour and the spray tan is looking a bit shabby, I just have a good scrub in the shower....

This year I made the fatal mistake of trying a new spray (rather than sticking with L'oreal) and tried Fake Bake in a pink canister - rubbish, washed off straight away and went all streaky :scared1:

What I have noticed on recent trips is that you don't see as many people that are REALLY tanned like we used to years ago.......I remember when we used to wear SPF2!!!! I don't go any lower than SPF25/30 these days :thumbsup2

Ali :goodvibes

ditto :thumbsup2

Have gone passed caring now about my see through legs:rotfl:..I just slap on the sunscreen and wait for the comments when I get back of 'You're not very brown are you?' or 'wasn't it sunny?' :)

I always use the St Tropez mousse and it has never gone streaky or anything, but does wash off in the swimming pool slightly if you are in every day.

Although always use gloves or a mit as you don't want orange hands!!! I put it on just before I go on holiday and then reapply about a week later. My skin is also very pale and my legs even more so!

Have a lovely holiday!

I also have this problem, only my whole body is the same colour as Casper the ghost. I'm too lazy for fake tan, etc. Don't have any advice but we were at one of the pools at Pop Century in 2010, I was taking my shorts and t-shirt off to go in the pool in my bikini when a big American guy shouted from way over the other side of the pool "OH MY GOD! YOU'RE WHITE!".

My boyfriend thought he said "Oh my god! Your wife!" as in checking me out and basically gave the guy the thumbs up :rotfl2:

Good thing I can laugh about it!

St tropez is great, but it's very dark so doesn't really suit white skin.

The garner spray is very good and easy to use.

That is so hysterical! Bet you laughed about it for months!

I too am a frightening white/blue colour, but find that now there's more awareness about the hazards of getting a tan I don't feel the need to try.

I tend to use a bit of johnsons holiday sun in the weeks before just so my legs are not quite as white! Fairly cheap too

I've tried the Johnson one but as soon as I shave my legs it all comes off and goes streaky?? :confused3

The one thing to do is to shave and lightly buff the skin first and then apply the tan. Same as you should buff your elbows and knees to stop it from going dark in those areas. I prefer the hair removal cream as I don't find shaving lasts as long when I am away.

Have to say, it was rather awkward at the time! I'm one of those really white people that as soon as the sun hits me I'm like a glowing object!
