We are DVC members and AP holders. We don't have any points left so we are planning a trip through a travel agent. We can get a great rate for a 1 bedroom villa paying cash. We want to add the dining plan and here is the problem:

We can’t set this up with the passholder plus dining plan and still get the discount, as the passholder rates for this time period have not yet been released. If we booked the passholder plan plus dining, but without tickets, it would be at the rack rate.

We were told we can add one day park tickets to keep the discount and add the dining plan. Does everyone in the room have to get the one day ticket or just one person?

Everyone in the room must have the same length of ticket.

Everything you were told was correct. To get the DDP w/o tix, you must book an AP ticketless package, which I understand entails either paying for a rack rate room or using an AP discount.

To get dining on a discounted room, you could not use the AP ticketless package.

In all cases, you have to some kind of Disney travel company package to add the DDP except for a DVC points stay.

Just to add - I believe it is possible to just hold the tickets and not use them. You could then use them in the future or upgrade them to AP's etc.

That was going to be my next question. If all 4 of us buy the one day tickets can we not use them this trip and just save them for August 2012?

Just what I was going to say. Keep that one day ticket, use your APs for the trip. When the time comes to renew your APs, turn in the one day ticket for a reund of the price toward your AP. Just a reminder, though, this has to be done in person. Do not pre-renew those APs online or by phone. (Assuming you will be traveling to Disney within 30 days of your current APs expiration date)

Cool, thanks for the info. I knew I could find out what to do here. We are wiped out of points until 2012 and we need a Disney fix. I hate to pass up the chance to get a good price!
