When you started going grey, how long did it take from first noticing a few greys, until you were all grey? Over the years I have found 1 or 2 here or there. But now, over the past couple months Ive found about 8! And Im talking big long shiny white ones. And Im only 31!!! So any guess on how long I have left as a redhead? ;)

I have been noticing a few gray hairs here and there for over a year so I am hoping that it doesn't get much worse (I am 26). My DH though, to give you hope, is 25 and has had gray in his hair (a few) since I have known him. He's not any closer to being totally gray than he was when I first met him. So if he's been that way for at least 7 or 8 years then I have hope that I won't go totally gray for quite some time.

I started noticing them about the same age...and I really haven't gotten that many more, thank goodness!

My friend has very dark brown hair. A couple of years ago (she's now 34) we started to notice these 2 distict silver streaks that frame her face. We call her "Rouge" (spelling?). If you've seen X-Men, her hair looks like that character's. She hasn't noticed anymore. Her streaks actually look cool.

I am 39 and to be honest I am about 75% grey...thank goodness for hair coloring, or I would really look like an old bag :(

Will you change your name here if you get more, Blondie?? :teeth:

For me, too long ago to recall. I don't care about the color, just the hair itself, trying to hold on to those last few. :)

I noticed the first few grey hairs in my 20's. Since many in my family turn grey early I wasn't all that shocked. A little rinse covered things nicely.

Now, I'd say I'm about 30% grey. If it wasn't for hair color I'd look like the Bride of Frankenstein!

My hair starting turning white when I was in 7th grade, I had hair practically down to my waist. The white started in the back, one of my friends that sat behind me pulled one out. As time went on more and more came in, underneath at first and then slowly more on the top. By the time I was 31 I was salt and pepper so I cut it short. I dyed my hair until I was about 39 and by then my hair was so white and it grows so fast that my roots were showing in no time, so I stopped coloring it. For the past ten years my hair has been white. I consider myself very lucky, because it is very shiny and healthy looking. I do not think it makes me look older that I actually am.
My family all started to go white early, but they started in their 20's not their teens like me. At one point my hair was actually whiter than my moms because she was just letting her grey stay around her temples, etc.
It does seem though once you have children it does go whiter faster, it that because they drive you crazy or you just are lacking something in your vitamins?

When you pull one grey hair out, 10 come to it's funeral!LOL

It's all genetics, stress levels and kids!

:smooth:

The grey hair comes from being from Massachusetts and from being a Bruins fan. I'm both, and the longer you live in the great Bay State and follow the Bruins, the worse it gets. Between the budget cuts and the Bruins holding on to a playoff spot, my grey is turning white. Here's a tip, if you follow the Red Sox, you will start losing your hair. Good luck! ;)

I started getting gray early, too. I used to pull them out when I saw them, but as the numbers grew I decided that might not be such a good idea. (See my tag!) I don't bother to color my hair, so now at 42, I have quite a bit of gray especially at my temples.

It doesn't bother me much, but my mom hates it. She asked me to color my hair so SHE wouldn't look so old.

I started noticing grey in my hair in my late 30's when my beautician pointed them out to me. Now, in my middle 40's I have a very pretty salt and pepper.

Grey hair doesn't bother me. I am actually greying earlier than my parents and their parents. I've even been given the Senior Citizen discount once at Kohl's because the checker thought I was older than I was. Of course, I didn't realize it until I got home but if it saves me a little money......

Gray hair? What gray hair?;) :p

I've been coloring my hair for so long now - I wouldn't have a clue when I actually started getting gray hair!!

I noticed my 1st gray hair before I was all the way thru puberty. Now at 56 I'm about 1/3 gray. I quess that means I won't be all gray until I'm 160 LOL

Thanks for the great replies everyone! Sounds like I should have a little more time before it gets real bad.

ROFL, Dana...as Im sitting here hoping for a win today to officially get into the playoffs.

only my hairdresser knows for sure.......

I'm hoping! The Rangers' play hasn't been great this season. Hopefully, it's our game!
Tonight, I'm in Worcester for the Boston University / University of New Hampshire game. All this hockey and traveling is another reason my hair is grey and sparse. :)

I started greying at around 30 & didn't really much care back then but now that I'm 43 & have a 17 month old DS & my DH is 8 years younger than me....well, you'd better believe I'm having my hair colored! I wouldn't want people to think my DS is my Grandson (although I'm sure some people do!)
