Question for on-site staying veterans

My son and I are going back down the first of October for the halloween party and I am considering staying on site. This will most likely be an all stars or such. I have a premium anual pass so I figure I should get the all stars for around $50 a night (once the codes actually come out).

Anyway, There is one thing I've always wanted to do since I rode through it as a kid on the way to MK. That is of course stay in the Contemporary, even if just for 1 night. So.... what I thought I would do is on the day of the halloween party go to the desk and explain that I already have an on-site room for the whole week but would like to stay 1 night in the Contemporary. Perhaps if they have a room not rented out that night I could get it really cheap (I'm really hopping in the $100 range or less) as my budget is really tight.

All we would really need it for is to crash after the halloween party. That way we could just hop the monarail (sp?) back at the end of the night, get out at the Contemp, and go to our room (ie no waiting for busses..etc...)

What do you think? Could I get away with such a cheap price? My son is as excited at the prospect as I am but I don't know if it will work and I doubt I could afford the $200-$400 (with PAP disconut) it would cost otherwise.

I think that it is unlikely that you will be able to get a room discounted within in your range. From reading different posts it seen that Disney does not offer large discounts even if they have an empty room that day.

I know you could get $149/night at the Contemporary if you checked in w/ AP rate by 9/29 (value season) for a standard wing room (not tower). Of course, that wouldn't be the night of MNNSHP but if you could afford 1 night & do it on 9/29, would it be worth it to you? You could still spend the day in MK, walk (5 minutes from CR to MK) or use the monorail, etc..

Friends of mine went to visit AKL and fell in love with it. They called WDW reservations from the lobby of the resort and were able to get a savannah room at 50% off the regular rate for that night. They are not AP holders. I think it is always worth a try. Also, if you are paying about $50 a night at the all star resort, and if you are lucky enough to get a price around $100 at the CR, then you will be at $150 for that one night, since you will be paying for a room at both resorts that night. What if you just looked into the AP rate for one night at CR, and if it around $150 then book it for that one night and the all star for the other nights?
