Question for Marriott timeshare owners

Thanks to the awesome advice I received from some great DISers, I was able to rent a week at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for a great price without having to wait until 60 days.

I am looking to rent at a Marriott timeshare for the second week of our vacation (hoping for Harbour Lake), but the prices are quite a bit higher than BC. My question for you Marriott timeshare owners, do the prices decrease at 60 days out (like at BC).

Thanks in advance for your response

What channel are you looking to rent the Marriott resorts through? Private owner, Marriott.com, travel site, Interval International? Are you an Interval International member? What time of year are you looking to travel?

We are traveling in May 2011. I have been looking at various sources for renting. Just looking for a decent rate because we are staying in Orlando for 15 days. I am not an Interval member, so that is not an option.

Finding cheap owner rentals in Orlando Marriott's won't be easy. Since Orlando is such a cheap place to rent many owners will use or trade their weeks instead of trying to rent them out. It would be very hard for them to make back their high Marriott maintenance fees.

Your best option will likely be Marriott.com. Interval International is currently renting most May weeks through their getaway program for $427 plus taxes for seven nights.

Thanks for you reply. $427 is a very good rate, unfortunately I am not an Interval member, so that is not an option for me.

That rate is the reason why most Marriott owners in Orlando won't bother to rent out their weeks. When they are paying $950 in maintenance fees, they simply can't rent their weeks for enough to make any money let alone break even.

Do you have any family or friends that would happen to be an Interval member? If so, you can ask them to buy a getaway for you. They can even use your credit card to process the payment. There would be a $49 guest certificate fee in addition to the rate I quoted.

Sorry, I am from a pretty remote part of Ontario Canada, so I don't know anyone who owns a timeshare. Well, I have an acquaintance who owns Club Intrawest, but I don't think that counts.

You can give Condodirect.com a try. Condodirect is Interval International's outlet to rent timeshare units to the general public. It is rare that they ever have Marriott units available, but there are plenty of other resorts available in Orlando.

I've never heard of condodirect, are they reputable?

Condodirect is Interval Internationals outlet to sell timeshare inventory to the general public. So it is as reputable as Interval International.

We have never used Condodirect so I have no personal experience, but we use II all the time and have been very happy.

Try TUG (Timeshare Users Group) and watch eBay. I have rented many Orlando Marriotts from owners without issue. I usually pay around $900 for President's week.

So, I tried condodirect and found the week I wanted at a GREAT price (not at a Marriott resort, but still a very good resort). The bad news is you must reside in the U.S. to register for an account (and to rent I assume). So back to the drawing board.

Well that stinks. I hadn't looked in to their services enough to know about these limitations.

All products and services are only available to individuals residing in the United States.
