One of my hamsters has sort of a crusty eye. I noticed it about a week ago. I've been holding a luke warm wash cloth to her eye and it has been helping but it is still crusty and yucky! I don't want her to lose her eyesight or let this lead to 'wet tail' so I am asking for advice on whether I should take her to the Vet?!?! She acts fine, eats good, plays in her ball, etc but that eye just worries me. Her sister (in the same cage) is absolutely fine. I change the bedding and clean out their cage regularly, I just don't know whats wrong with her eye.

Thanks for letting me vent. Thanks in advance for any responses.

It's been a really long time since we've had hamsters, but I think the crusty eye is from a vitamin deficiency. If I remember correctly, we had to give our hamster a drop of cod liver oil a day and it went away!

Like I said, though, it's been awhile!
