i recently purchased point on a cruise, i think i got a good deal as i was able to use this years points towards a $2000 disc. My question is i travel to disney 4-5 times a year as i live in florida, will i have trouble getting reservations 4-6 weeks in advance as ik usually a last minute traveler

Congratulations & welcome home!!

To answer your question, it is possible, but you will have to be very flexible and availability will probably be very limited. If you like to travel during peak periods, such as christmas, easter and July, it may be difficult, but not impossible, to get a last minute reservation.

Most book between 11 an 7 months in advance of their travel dates.

Have a wonderful day!

Actually right at 4-6 weeks you might be better off than you thought. Again, as stated you will still have to be very flexible. But the last day a member can cancel a previous reservation without penalty is at 30 days so I would think members who made ressies way out would wait as long as possible before cancelling. This might open up some small windows in that 4-8 week time period.

We all would be very interested in knowing how it works out for you this way. Be sure to post back whenever you do this and let us all know how it goes.

I think Caskbill is right. There are always cancelations. We have even been able to add nights at a holiday period at the last minute (day before we left home) because of cancelations.

And you can always use the wait list--even as you get close to the departure date. I just got an OKW studio only 6 weeks out for two nights. Prior to that by a week, I was offered a 1-Bedroom BWV STANDARD. SO... as long as you are willing to stay in different places, all will work out for you.

Worst case scenario--if nothing works out--you can stay at another WDW Resort on points--not the best value, but...

One Last Thing--at 30 days, they clear the wait list and you'd have to rejoin.

Just a little hitch to the WDW resorts as back-up, if you are trying to make a reservation during the last 60 days of your Use Year you can only use DVC resorts. It's possible to stay at non-DVC resorts during the last 60 days but the reservation must be made 61 days or more out so they have time to "use" the DVC points you are giving up.
