Hi,

My wife and I are looking to purchase a DVC membership on the resale market. Right now, we need maybe 200 points, but we know in future, we'll need more points that will enable us to get a bigger property.

So, lets say I buy 200 points at OKW now but in 3 years I buy 100 points at SSR...

Am I then able to book at 11 months for either resort?

I guess what I'm asking is, if we had 200 points at OKW and 100 at SSR but we wanted a say a larger property for our vacation and which was 250 points, could I book at 11 months or would I have to split stay and use the OKW points for part of the stay and SSR points for the other part?

TIA

The 11 month window advantage is specific to each home resort. So if you have 200 OKW points, you can use those at 11 months to book there. If you have another 100 points at SSR, you could book at 11 months at SSR only.

What some do is to book the two resorts at the the 11 months so you are sure you have a place to stay, and then, at the 7 month mark, and if you don't want to move between resorts, you can try to book the entire stay at one resort or the other.

But you can't combine the points so you would not be able to, say , use all 300 points at 11 months to get a 2 bedroom or a GV if that's what you're thinking, at either resort.

You could use all your points at ONE resort for the 11 month window, and if you need more points for that reservation, you can borrow from the next year. You can also bank in points for the same type of ressie if you know you will need them for the next year.

As noted, you cannot combine points from two different resorts at the 11 month mark. Some who own two resorts will alternate years at those resorts. Using your example, if you have 200 OKW points and 100 SSR points, you could use 200 OKW from this year and borrow 200 from next year for a 400 point stay this year. Then, you bank your 100 SSR points to next year and have 200 SSR points to use for a stay next year that can be booked at the 11 month mark.

I am hoping to someday add BWV to our AKV and my plan would be to use BWV for F&W trips every other year. Or possibly, I would do a split stay between BWV and AKV.
