Dean,

Being that you own both a DVC and Marriott I hope you can answer this question.

As from my previous posts you may remember that we are trying to trade our Ocean Point 2br for a 2br DVC. We asked II to search for an opening for us during the first 2 weeks in Decemeber.

My question is.....would we stand a better chance of getting in if we changed our travel dates to sometime between Oct 14 - Nov 14, 2004?

We know it's a long shot, but we are still going to try for it. It doesn't hurt.

Thanks,
Melissa

Abolutely. I think your chances would be fairly good for that time, especially for OKW. You can always add in GV and CH later and expect to be confirmed to those when you do. Remember if you do a search for DVC and Marriott, you will be charged the $121 exchange fee even if you match Marriott. The discounted $79 fee is only for exclusive Marriott to Marriott exchanges. Of course you could always cancel the other exchange then place a new one for just Marriott. A good way to know is to look online at II and see if there are weeks online for the time you want. If there are, cancel you're exchange and take one of the Marriott weeks when the time comes, maybe 3 months or so before your expected travel. One other thought is to keep a check online at II and if a 3 BR at GV comes up, you might seriously consider taking it, which you can also do then online. Good luck.

Question about looking on-line for availability....do I do a search on the II website under "Getaway Search" or am I looking in the wrong place?

Also, we have only asked them to do a search for a DVC not a Marriott. We are holding off for a while on that. Am I understand right that, that is what you recommend we should be dointg now?

Thanks again,
Melissa

For the II website, go to exchanges then click on the word shop beside your deposit. Make sure you use the deposit you're interested in. A screen will come up where you will enter the dates you are looking for and can either shop fo all areas available or specify up to 3 areas to look for. You can then follow those screens through to see what resorts and unit types are available. You can do all this without jepardizing your current search. If you actually accept one of the options, that will use your deposit and stop your search. This is a great way to get an idea of what your unit will trade for.

You can do the same thing with a week that has not been deposited but is elligible to be deposited. At OP, you can select the dates and unit size then plany around just like I described above. You will need to enter a reservation number but it doesn't have to be a good one or the actual dates you have reserved.

As for your search, I'd definitely have only DVC on it now as if you add the Marriott's, that's what you'll get. Good luck.

Thank You Thank You Thank You ..... I got it! You just made my life a little more simple.

You're the best!
