Question for dance parents re: recital flowers

My DD enjoyed the Cinderella cake and ice cream more than flowers after her recital. ;)

If you change your mind and bring flowers, the dance company usually sells them. Ours did for $8 and they still look great a week later :).

My dd's have danced for 8 and 10 yrs. The performance troop at the school sells the flowers to raise money for their trip.

My sister is the florist who supplies the flowers. There are 2 choices, a small bouquet or a single gerber daisy. She does a great job with adding greens so the flowers all look great.

She opened her own shop about 5 years ago. Before that I bought the flowers but now I just let her bring them.

Both my dd's love the flowers. I also buy them a dance t-shirt each year (has the show's theme and year on it).

My daughters is tomorrow and instead of flowers I bought her a few webkinz- I KNOW she will like that more than flowers!

My daughter (5) had her first recital three weeks ago. I didn't know that you bring flowers. I felt awful when I saw everyone with the bouquets - and told my daughter that I didn't know about bringing flowers. She rubbed my arm and told me it was ok, she understood that I can't know everything. (how sweet) About 5 minutes later, her best friends family showed up (the friend was also a dancer) and the dad had an enormous bouquet. At that point, she got really sad because she didn't have flowers. I would have certainly gone out to buy flowers if they had a stand set up outside.

My SIL showed up shortly thereafter with a bunch of roses for her.

Thank goodness for aunts who have clue.

I was the same way the first year..Clueless :confused3 ...Too bad yours didn't sell them, but all is well that ends well.:)

Hope your niece did well and everyone had a fun recital! I think just knowing you're there thrills the kids and no one is obligated to bring anything. However I do think it's a very nice gesture to bring a token for your dancer if you please. :goodvibes

We are fortunate the dance company sets up flowers, all sorts of teddies, jewlery, etc. to sell. This is the 4th year for our 7yo DGD, so we have done an asst. of flowers, jewelry, ballerina teddies, etc. DGD's is the 23rd and this year I think we'll skip the flowers, as her parents always do a big bunch. We bought her some 'Puppies in my Pocket' she'll enjoy, was also in luck to find a find a cute ballerina shaped bag at the $ store. To be honest, I think the ice cream outing afterwards with her guests is what she enjoys most! :goodvibes
