My new bug just arrived last night!! :cool1: :woohoo: I really only had time to set it up though, and not to play with it.

One question, though - when I borrowed my friends, she had told me about the speed and the pressure, but not about the blade depth. I finally realized that needed to be changed too as it didn't cut when I first tried it.

So, my question is - do you normally keep the blade depth at a certain setting, or do you change it depending on what your are doing? Do you have to take the whole green part out of the cradle to change it, or can it be changed while it's in there?

Thanks so much!!!

I can change mine while it is still in the machine. I have only changed it once but I haven't cut anything too thick yet. I'm going to try fun foam for a shaker box I want to make but haven't done it yet. Anyone cut fun foam? Any tips? I know I saw it somewhere on the cricut boards so I will have to start searching.

As long as you position it where you can see the little black dot, you can change the depth without removing it. I change the depth as much as the pressure. I have lots of different thickness cardstock & papers.
Make sure you clean the blade after real thick stuff, like Bazzill. Just that the green part out of the cradle and push down on button on top.

COngrats! You are going to LOVE it. I took a Cricut class at my LSS when I got my bug and they said to leave the blade set on 6 and to adjust the pressure and speed. A few tips, keep your mat covered and when your mat starts to loss it's stick wipe it down with a baby wipe and put the plastic back on it and it will be sticky again, also you can use your mat in way you don't have alway us the arrow end it's good to use the mat all over so it doesn't wear out. I'm addicted to my Cricut. You have to check out the Cricut message board, I'm there all the time now. Have fun!

Wow, never thought of that  I was always putting full sheets because i thought the entire mat needed to be covered. I thought the sticky part being exposedc would damage the machine!:rolleyes1
