If you did not purchase on site in Florida, did all of the paperwork DVC send you go through the state law required broker before you got the paperwork or after?

We originally bought 200 pts Feb 19 while at WDW, but decided to add on 50 after getting home. Our guide re-wrote our contract this week so the incentives would work in our favor, however, the new paperwork is yet to arrive at our house and DH leaves on a 2 and a half month overseas trip on Sunday (he'll need to sign on the new contract). DVC Quality Control is on it, and our guide Jerry has been awesome, trying to get the papework fed-exed here, but they don't even know if it has to go to the broker first for approval. Utlimately, we can still do it after DH gets home in May, but I have a feeling it may not go smoothly if it has to sit for that long...any feedback would be great!

One very easy way to deal with it would be to have sign DH sign a Limited Power of Attorney which gives you the right to sign his name on this one transaction. You would need to have it notarized also.

Powers of Attorney can be limited by date, by transaction, or by type of transaction.

I did this at one point so my DS could sign a paper for my DN when she would be out of town.

That is a great idea that we will most certainly look into, considering this will be a regular thing from now on.

As an update, DVC called us this morning, and explained to us how they will handle it to allow DH to sign and the broker to approve at the same time. They have gone out of their way to make sure this goes smoothly....love em!!!

When we bought at BWV it was approved for sale in Colorado so we didn't have to use a "state law required broker ". Even living this far away (and having to fly each time) DVC has been great.

We just bought in November, toured SSR our last day but did not decide to buy till we got home. The contracts had to be sent to a CO broker who then forwarded them on (via Fedex) to us and then we Fedexed them back to the broker. It did not take long at all. They said for CO it has to be done that way.

Our first trip "home" is 3/24!
