I am looking for the name of a hymn sung at Mass that combines English lyrics and another language, possibly Spanish. Since I only speak English, I cound not figure out the name of the hymn. Some of the English lyrics, I believe, are "We are the body of Christ, blessed and chosen are we" and "at His table the last shall be first". I heard this at Corpus Christie Church in Celebration, FL, when we were there in October. I hope someone here can help me with this. Thanks in advance.

I think you want "Pan de Vida", and yes, the other parts are in Spanish.

Is it Pan de Vida?

Lyrics
Bilingual Refrain
Pan de Vida, cuerpo del Señor,
cup of blessing, blood of Christ the Lord.
At this table the last shall be first.
Poder es servir, porque Dios es amor.

Estribillo
Pan de Vida, cuerpo del Señor,
santa copa, Cristo Redentor.
Su justicia nos convertirá.
Poder es servir, porque Dios es amor.

1. We are the dwelling of God,
fragile and wounded and weak.
We are the body of Christ,
called to be the compassion of God.

2. You call me Teacher and Lord;
I, who have washed your feet.
So you must do as I do,
so the greatest must become the least.

3. There is no Jew or Greek;
there is no slave or free;
there is no woman or man;
only heirs of the promise of God.

1. Somos el templo de Dios,
frágiles seres humanos.
Somos el cuerpo de Cristo,
llamados a ser compasivos.

2. Ustedes me llaman "Señor".
Me inclino a lavarles los pies.
Hagan lo mismo, humildes,
sirviéndose unos a otros.

3. No hay esclavos ni libres,
no hay mujeres ni hombres,
sólo aquellos que heredan
el reino que Dios prometió.

Thank you for the quick replies. Obviously I didn't have the lyrics right:rolleyes1. I think this hymn is beautiful and hope to hear it at my church in the future.

I heard this hymn at the church we attended in Florida during our last trip, too. I don't know if it is included in any of our hymnals or choir books. Now that you have reminded me, I will look for it. Maybe we will start singing it here.

I know it was in the Glory and Praise hymnal by GIA. We had those hymnals for over 10 years.

We just switched to Breaking Bread by OCP (with the new Roman Missal changes). But haven't looked for it in that hymnal.

We sing this at our church for some of the bilingual masses. It is a beautiful song. :)

Pan de Vida is probably my favorite Catholic hymn. I go to an Epsicopal church now and am tempted to see if they will play it. Some Episcopal churches even use the Gather hymnal.

Another good one along the same lines musically (but without the Spanish) is Taste and See.
