I just recently closed on a BWV resale contract (yea!! (April 9)But, no member card, no pin number:( When do those come? Am I going to get all kinds of messed up by closing when they're changing over the website?)

Anyway, the real question. I made ressies for Dec, and was only able to get preferred view, non-boardwalk (not my first choice, but I really felt lucky to get it!!!). Now, I am reading a lot of posts by people who are calling day by day to get standard views for next Easter. So, here's my question: "Is this an Easter falls on spring break" thing...or do you ALWAYS have to book standard views day by day, right at the eleven month window? Maybe I am just getting paranoid because 11 months from now is Easter, but it just seems like people are "scrambling" for those rooms. What other times of the year does this happen?

Also, one more question. I am waitlisted for standard views on Dec. 3-10. I know the seven month mark is approaching in a few days. How much "shifing" of ressies goes on then, and what do you think my chances are of snagging a standard view?

Thanks so much!!!

You don't always have to but the holiday periods are popular and the standard views fill up very fast. But you should book them as early as possible.

Shifting does go on but not generally out of Boardwalk standard view. A lot try to shift into Boardwalk standard view. You may have a chance as time goes on by people canceling their reservations because of a change in plans. The good thing is that you got your request in before the 7 month window opened.

Good luck.

Standard views fill up fast normally and even more so for the holidays. It is recommended to book as close to the 11th window as poosible.

That being said, many people do book up the standard views in months in advance even before they are sure of their vacation plans or even if they are not sure they can go, just because they know it will be difficult to book later. So, there are quite a few of cancellations and 'shiftings." So, even if all the standards are gone within weeks of the 11 month window, there is a very good chance of cancellation. It's not even surprising when a whole bunch of standard views become available after being sold out. This is where the important of the wait-list comes in.

Good luck!

I'm a "Std View shifter" so I do know it happens! I always book std view at BWV as my "back-up plan" at 11 mos out, then "shift" to where I'm trying to go as soon as my 7 mos window opens up. HOWEVER-- that is contingent upon me having somewhere to shift INTO. In December, that may be very hard to come by. So enter the waitlist, but don't hold your breath. In the summer or off-seasons you can usually luck-out with a "shifter" like me! (And BTW -- no, sorry -- I don't have ressies at that time I'm planning on shifting out of...)

Gopherit...thanks...I did get my hopes up for just a little bit (LOL)!!

There are not that many standard view rooms at BWV, that is why they fill up so fast.

I called every other day last summer to book our trip for June. I knew that I wanted a standard view 2 bedroom, since we were banking last year, using this year and borrowing next year to do our long 17 night stay. I just wanted to make sure that I got the standard view since points were an issue.

If I were booking for spring break (Easter), I definitely would be calling everyday to book a day at a time.

If you want to be sure of getting a standard view at BWV for anytime (and especially for the "popular times"), you do need to call day by day at the 11 month mark.

FWIW, the posts reporting that a standard view was obtained later than 10-11 months ahead of time can lead you to believe that this is a common occurrence. It isn't. It's my belief that those who have "waitlist success" post far more often than those who do not. And there are lots more waitlist requests that don't come through than those that do.

That said, I would never discourage anyone from using the waitlist, but I always suggest a back up plan (which you have).

My advice is not to count on it, but sometimes good things happen! And they might happen for you.

Good luck!
