Question for Atheists

That's what I would think too, and I've found it odd all along. It seems as Obama's Christianity is glossed over. Of course, the church he was part of for years isn't really what his supporters want to talk about....

Uh huh. Yeah. You sure got atheists and Obama supporters pegged, don't you?

As an agnostic I do twinge a little inside when I hear that. I think it's a reminder to me that the leader of my country is capable of believing things that I feel have no proof. Therefore what other things does he believe without proof/evidence. Also I worry about people in power forcing thier religious beliefs on others. But in the end I trust people to be decent and it doesn't really worry me.

Yeah but I guess people who go to churches with pedophile priests, or cheating spouses, or money scamming pastors, etc. don't want to talk about that either?

No one has the market cornered on good or evil. It's a mixed bag.;)

As long he doesn't pass any laws based one what "god wants", I don't care how he ends his speeches.

That's basically how I feel. Words aren't offensive to me... just actions, he could say "and you can all kiss my $#%" at the end and I'd really only think... um, that was weird and call it done.

I just call 'em as I see 'em.

Uh huh. Opening your eyes next time might help. :lovestruc

I agree with the poster who said that it doesn't bother them as long as Obama doesn't start legislating what God wants. Otherwise, I feel about the same as I would if Obama chose to swear in on a copy of Alice in Wonderland or if he asked the Flying Spaghetti Monster to bless America with his noodley appendages.

so, only people who love Obama have opened their eyes?? Ok, I get it.

It doesn't bother me as it's his belief and his speech and everyone is entitled to their own. As for me, I don't believe in anything so as long as its not forced on me or my children I don't care.

Would it be the same if a Muslim was in power? A Budhist? To me, Obama could believe that Aliens created us or that Santa was real, but as long as he does what I believe he is capable of doing, I wouldn't twinge one bit!

I do agree that a person in power has no right to force their beliefs upon anyone, but I do belief they are entitled to their own beliefs.

And I should say that I am a Christian, DH is agnostic.

Holy crap!Santa's NOT REAL??!!??:scared1:

I don't love Obama, but even I saw the ridiculousness of your comment. :confused3

So, because my experience is not something that you believe or something that you have experienced yourself it is ridiculous. Do I have that right?

I've met a good many Obama supporters at the volunteer functions I've been a part of, at community events, and I've seen them interviewed MANY times on local TV news. Overwhelmingly, the attitude of those that I have seen is one of extremely unrealistic expectations and "enthusiasm" that looks very much like the more charismatic members of my Church when they talk about God.

My opinion of them is that they have set themselves up for disappointment and that they are giving this man the type of honor that I consider more properly reserved for God. It doesn't mean I hate them, it doesn't mean I see them as inferior or stupid or whatever label people want to say I've put on them. It simply is my opinion based on what I've SEEN and HEARD with my own eyes and ears.

He has his beliefs just like any other man, woman, or child in this world. If he wishes to express them then he has all right. As long as he's not forcing me to worship in any way I am not comfortable with, then we will get along fine.

If I were you, I would move.

I've seen none of that behavior.

I've only seen his opposers making those accusations and it just makes them look grasping and even hysterical.
