Question for anyone who has flown out of Portland,Maine

We have a 3 year old, very active (and extremely cute ) boy. Is there a play area in the Portland airport ? Anywhere for him to run around? I am assuming it must be a small airport so not expecting much. Also, are there any restaurants or somewhere we can pick up a quick bit before boarding our flight? Thanks.

We flew from Portland to St Petes in February. Not much exciting there. The "restaurant" wsa typical airport fare. And typical airport price.

The gate area was big enough that your son could have a run (depending on crowds) but I don't remember seeing any play area.

any idea what time the ticket counter opens? we are doing a park and fly at comfort inn airport and are wondering what time to leave for the airport. For those who stay overnight in portland is there a big food court at maine mall.

We will be there with you, we fly out of Portland @ 06:00 on Aug. 5th as well. Flying through New York. We are aiming to be at the airport by 04:30.

we originally were going out of bangor but then they changed the 550 flight we were supposed to get in early afternoon but now there is two stops very tight connections or get in 6pm so we opted for out of portland. check your flight we were to leave at 550 go through boston and get in around noon but now that flight has changed.

no we transfer in atlanta and get in at 1119 we opted for atlanta they gave us a choice as we had never flown through ny before we went with atlanta.

coming back on aug 21 into portland 1110 we get in at 5pm again through atlanta

We are going Jet Blue through NYC and then return on Aug 14th direct from Orlando leaving @ 2:00pm arriving at 5:00pm. We booked in Feb. and I have noticed the fares have gone up ever since. These flights are about 75% less than I could find from Halifax...worth the drive & hotel!

people look at us funny when we say we drive to bangor or portland but it allows us to go for longer and more often that being said we go on points during march break do not drive south then.
also we leave a few days early and do alittle back to school shopping
almost like two vacations

We have recieved a few odd looks as well, that & combined with going to Florida in the summer! But who cares...as long as it's vacation & you can save a few bucks!!

We are flying out of Portland on December 5th. 7:25 am to NY and then onto Orlando for 1:00 pm. This will save us about $3000.00 over what we paid to fly out of Halifax last December. Even with gas and accomodations on either end, it is much cheaper!!

Where is the best place to stay? I am looking at the Holiday Inn Express because they have suites which will allow us to pay for one room for all 6 of us and they have the Park 'n Fly.

Has anyone stayed there? Any reviews??

Hi GoofyGymMom,

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Portland in May. We didn't use their park 'n fly, but saw ALOT of vehicles that were using it. We enjoyed our stay. I didn't realize it was a suite until we got there. They didn't have linens on the pull-out (or any extra in the room). We were only a party of 4, so maybe they only add them for party of 5 or 6. The kitchenette was great. The kids went to Chuckie Cheese so I picked up Sbarro at the food court next door to it and took it back to the hotel. We were able to re-heat easily. They gave us a little 'snack' bag when we checked in (I think because we had entered our Priority Club number when making ressie). The bag had bottled water, microwave popcorn, snack size cookies etc. And you can't beat their free breakfast in the morning! Dh and I both agree that if/when we fly out of Portland, we will book this hotel for park 'n fly.

We are doing a two stop since its just DH and I this trip. We stop in Boston then Atlanta. Each layover is 1 hr + a bit. We arrive at 2pm.

Tickets were 194 each. We booked in November last year.
