I haven't been looking at skyauction at all times of the year, so I'm not sure what trends to expect. There currently aren't many 7 day stays in the disneyworld area for early december 2006. is it just because it's too soon for them to be posted?

Pat - I was hoping you'd respond. I know you're pretty experienced w/skyauction. when do you think some might pop up? beginning of the summer? end of the summer? there's a 1br at VV@P for $299 on getravelop right now, but i was hoping for a 2br for 12/16 (not christmas week)--think i should wait?

OK, I just checked out skyauction for the first time. Can someone give me more info on it? Is it basically just an auction? Thanks!

the chances of getting the two bedroom at Vacation Village on the Parkway will be pretty slim since they now seem to be dividing the two bedrooms units and renting them out as one bedrooms ....full kitchen or partial kitchen designations...

heck, they even appear ( one bedrooms .....just the occasional 2 bedroom ) that way when i do searches for exchanges using our 2 bedroom .banked week

not a bad idea on their part .....they get 600$ instead of 300$ .....but they always have a lot of inventory listed ......so it would make sense a lot of the units go unused....

I noticed that, too. But although I like that property, I would take a 2-BR at a few other places over a 1br there.

what do you think--should i wait it out? if so, how long??

i've used them in the past to get a week at a timeshare for an incredibly low price. i think if you do a search for skyauction on this board, you'll find lots of threads that talk about it more, to give you a good feel for what it is/how it works.

I won a Ready Set go auction a six weeks ago for $51 and was looking for a place the week of May 27 - June 3. Noting and I mean nothing showed up for Orlando or most anywhere else that I tried. Sky Auctions told me that that time period would show availablity two to three weeks befor that date. Being the planner that I am I have looked about three times a day for a place close to Disney. I finally found Villas At Fortune Place which is about 15 miles from Disney and jumped on it. So for $265 I have a two bedroom for my week. This is not the place we wanted to stay but for the price and the other activities we have planned it will work. Just hope it is nice. That said, after watching Sky Auctions for over a year they just don't have the invertory they use to. IMHO if you have a certain week you want and have no wiggle room in your travel dates I would look elsewhere.

I really think the best deals on Skyauction came about as a result of diminished tourism to Orlando after 9/11. Now that tourism is back up, those kinds of deals are hard, if not impossible to find. But...mid December should be one of the best times to find a good deal! So, my advice is to find what many DISers call the "cancellable back-up"...a hotel/condo (whatever you like) that you can book now and cancel in the future should you find a great deal. I would probably look for something that I could cancel up to 72 hours or less in advance...which would be good if you are able to find a very last minute bargain. Good Luck! :)

unless rci and skyauction work out something to give them more "weeks" inventory, do not think the skyauction route is gonna be as good as it used to be....especially planning ahead
