Hi all,

Here's a question for the Disneyland experts. I'm having a mini-family reunion in 2 weeks... Jan. 24-28; say hi to me, my Mom and brother if you're in the parks! :)
I turn the big 4-0 in March, but won't be able to return then. Is it considered okay to celebrate my birthday in January in Disneyland? What is the routine you go through when celebrating a birthday at the parks? (I know I've seen cast members wishing folks a happy b'day, but don't know what's involved in it.)

Thanks,
Ray

Happy Birthday, a bit early!

YES it is perfectly ok to celebrate early. Disney celebrates when YOU celebrate! That is what I have been told when I ask. This is a very common occurance, and have a fabulous time!

You stop in City Hall and get your birthday button and birthday phone call. Nobody asks you when your birthday actually is, they just ask your name and age if you want it written on your button. You wear the button and if a castmember sees it they will wish you a happy birthday! People around the park will too. It is really the best way to celebrate a birthday!

Thanks for the info and the birthday wishes , Hollyster...I am definitely going to celebrate that week, and I just can't wait!

Depending on how silly you want to get, you can also get sung Happy Birthday by the characters if you do a character meal. Or, participate in the Happiest Birthdays on Earth at the Plaza Inn. Each participant gets an individual cake to decorate and theirs songs and games. It really is for the younger crowd which is why I said it depends on how silly you want to get.

Yes and Mission Tortilla factory will give you a whole bag of tortillas free!

Birthday's at DL are the best !

We were just there with our son's girlfriend whose birthday is the end of this month but I decided we should celebrate her birthday there. We got her a pin to wear from City Hall and had special desserts brought out to her at dinner. Now, on the birthday, she can relive the very special birthday moments that she's already enjoyed in the most magical place.

I was at DL for my birthday last month. I was given a birthday pin in one of the stores and wore it at the parks all day! Cast members were always wishing me a happy birthday and even though I'm on the other side of 40, I wanted to go to Goofy's Kitchen for my birthday. They made such a fuss and I got another pin, birthday hat, balloon, and decorated cupcake. The characters were extra attentive (a bit embarrassing!), but lots of fun, nevertheless! I haven't felt like such a kid (in a good way!) in such a long time!!

Happy early "4-0"!!

When we go in June, we are going to Celabrate my DH, and DD birthdays. One is in July and the other is in April. When we go in Dec, we are going to celebrate mine, and my DS. Mine is in Dec, and my DS is in Jan. Hope you have a great Birthday!!

We did this as well on our last (umm...FIRST) trip in September 2006. DS6's birthday had been the month before, but we wanted to give him a special birthday dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. We also wanted to do something special for DS2, because our trip had initially been planned for April 2006, with his birthday in the middle of our stay. But that trip had to be canceled for medical reasons. No problem at all with Disney, though. We celebrated with a Lilo & Stitch breakfast, and he got lots of attention from the characters, it was so great! I highly recommend a character meal if that's something you'd enjoy! :thumbsup2

Just don't ever ask this question in the theme park thread for WDW. They all seem to be of the opinion that if it isn't the actual day you have no right celebrating it at Disney :confused3 .

I'm glad the people over here are much more laid back. I celebrated my birthday which is in Nov during our Dec trip. I love all the birthday wishes and the free pudding from BB was delicious.

This is good to hear! My son's birthday is on a Wednesday, and we'll be going in to DL that Friday. So it's only like 2 days later, but I wondered if it was okay even if it wasn't the "exact" day. I think he'll just love the extra attention from castmembers wishing him a happy b-day! He will be blushing for sure! :)

We celebrated DS's birthday 2 weeks later. No one give him the "hairy eyebrow" when he told them his real birthday was 2 weeks earlier. Go and enjoy!

BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY princess: :wizard:
