Hey this is my first post, and I'm not very computer savy and haven't figured out what all the abbreviations mean so bear with me!

Anyway, My hubby and I are planning to do a sept. 08 disney trip (for my daughter and son's birthday - it's a surprise). Would it be better to book it in advance when the prices finally come out, or wait till a good deal comes out like free dining plan or something like that. If I booked it in advance, and a free dining plan came out later on for the week I was planning on going, would Disney give me credit or back money if I was already booked? I want to get the best deals I can while also not having to worry about not getting into the places we want to stay/eat/do. Any advice?

Each person might give you a different answer to your questions, but the following is mine:

Book in advance. Disney will let you change packages and will either give you credit towards your new package or refund your money all together.

The problem with any DEAL or SPECIAL (ie. free dining) is that there are a limited number of rooms in each resort for these. For example, if you book Port Orleans Riverside with a King bed, In the past King bed rooms are not available with the discount at Port Orleans Riverside. You would have to switch resorts if you really wanted a king bed. Also, as stated before the rooms at each resort are limited in number for the discounts.

Even if you wait to get a package you can still make your ADVANCED DINING RESERVATIONS (ADR) 180 days out for each day you will be at Disney.

I hope this helps.

You can do it either way. If you book early and a special rate does come out you can always go back and have it applied to your ressies as long as there is availability for your dates.

I know there is alot of anticipation over the 2008 package rates. Hopefully they will be released soon so you can book your package and begin your planning. We are booked for free dinning this year and I know several people have had issues with thier ADR's so I can understand wanted to get them in as sson as possible.

Either way good luck!!

BTW - Geneseo Il?

thank you for your help! It did help! I was thinking it would be better to book in advance, but wanted someone who had done this before to give me their opinion. And no, Geneseo, New York. I had no idea there was a Geneseo, Illinois.
