Hello all, It's been a while since I've flown-- and I haven't since the 3-1-1 carryon policy was instituted.

I looked at the TSA website but couldn't find a list of what exactly is considered a liquid or gel. For example.... deodorant? Vaseline lip balm? I'm not planning on bringing many carryon toiletries but these are two things I'd like to have. (As well as toothpaste and eye drops and lotion, but I'm pretty sure all three of those go in the bag!)

Thank you!

Solid stick deodorant or anti-perspirant will not go in the bag. Liquid deodorant or anti-perspirant (usually will have a roller ball or will squeeze out) would go in the bag. If it's the Vaseline lip balm in a tube, that would be a gel and would need to go in the bag.

Basically, anything that would not retain its shape outside of its container is going to be a liquid or a gel and will need to go in the bag. Remember, anything in the bag has to be in a marked container of 3.4 oz. or less.

Deodorant - Sprays, roll-ons or gel will have to go in the bag. Solid deodorant doesn't have to.

Lip balm - Same thing. If it's solid, it doesn't need to go in the bag. If it's liquid or gel, it goes in the bag. Although I'm always carrying lip gloss loose in a bag and have never had it confiscated.

The only things that need to go in the quart-size ziploc baggie are things that you can:

Pour
Spread
Smear
Splash
Spray
Drip
Drink

In other words, if the item needs to be in a container to keep its shape, it's a liquid.

and obviously, all of things that go into the quart baggie have to be 3.4 oz (each) or smaller.

Duds

But there's no limit to the # of items in the bag so as long as you can fit it all in and have it seal closed, you're good.
