I’m convinced this term ‘Welcome Home’ booking was invented by someone on forums, and has spread from there- or was this ever officially called this and promised, in literature etc? I know they have ‘sometimes’ helped people with the first booking, but as I understand it, it isn’t something promised and I personally have never seen this term used officially, but maybe it pre dates my ownership.
Our guide mentioned it when we bought in July, but I've never seen anything in writing. We booked our first DVC trip for end of May/first of June, so we didn't take advantage of the service. If I understand the process, they are pulling a cash room back into DVC inventory, to allow a new owner the opportunity to book a stay on short notice (I'm not sure how they define short notice), when DVC inventory is most likely depleted. Makes sense, you just sold someone something very expensive, you probably don't want their first experience to be negative.
OP, I would say it doesn't hurt to ask, they might not do it, but then again, they might.
