Since nobody wants to meet me there.....:( :) does anyone know what stores, restaurants, etc. are there? Do they have a website that lists them? I do have another nurse from work going, so I won't be alone. I was a little nervous about going alone! :) Thanks!!!

not only are we not going to meet you, where also not going to tell you anything ;)

I wish I could meet you but I won't be in Chicago until 11-22. If memory serves me there is a California Pizza Kitchen there & I know I saw a McDonalds. The mall is attached to Bloomingdales & Marshall Fields. I haven't been there since last fall but I remember Christmas shopping at Abercrombie and Abercrombie & Fitch. I know this probably hasn't been very helpful but I thought I'd try.

Every time we've gone there, we haven't actually eaten there - there is a Cheesecake Factory right next door though on Michigan Ave and I would suggest that. Also, there are so many other malls around Michigan Ave too....right around there, theres one with Saks Fifth Ave, and one with Bloomingdales (sorry, don't know the actual mall names) and down closer to the river (south) theres a really nice new mall with Nordstroms and tons of food on the 4th floor. Also, near Watertower, theres a Ghiradelli's too. Have fun!

I would also suggest the Cheesecake Factory!! YUMMY!!!!!

Oh the shopping there is great. I love Marshall Fields. You're making me want to go pay a visit sometime soon.

There is the American Girl Doll Store right close to Water Tower also. When I gave Glo the whirl wind tour we stopped in there also:rolleyes: Not really my thing but her and the girls are into that:D

there is this place in water tower...aunt diane's or something like that. anyway, it's a chocolate/candy store. they have the BEST chocolate covered strawberries that i have had so far! and they have really good oreo bark (broken oreos mixed in with melted chocolate) and chocolate covered pretzels...

i hope it's still there! i'm feeling the need to pay a visit there really soon...

Hi. Here is a smattering of the stores:
Lord & Taylor, Marshall Fields, Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, Limited Too, The Limited, Louis Vuitton, Occhialia da Sale, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Georgett Klinger, Vidal Sassoon, Crabtree & Evelyn, aura science, FAO Swaetz, Godiva Chocolates, Fannie May Candies, North Beach Leather, Tumi.

Restaurants: California Pizza Kitchen, foodlife, Mity Nice Grill, a restaurant in Marshall Fields. There are plenty of restaurants near Water Tower Place also.

Have fun and enjoy your time here! :Pinkbounc

Marshall Feilds was awesome. What a beautiful store...then there is that room you can eat at, that is just gorgeous. I had never even heard of the store....We visited the FAO Shwartz and the Disney Store(which had Chicago Disney stuff)....I did drag Patrick to the American Girl store, it was really cute. My girls are into them, and I wanted to be able to tell them about it. I loved Chicago, maybe someday I will get to go back and have a more detailed tour...It is a great city and I had a great tour guide :)

Okie, Dan!! I see that now. :) Supposedly we should be getting there around 11:30ish.

THanks for all the pointers on the stores. Sounds like Bath and Body, American Girl and the chocolate store are all definites for me!!

Although it's not *in* Water Tower, the American Girl place is really cool! (and we don't even have girls!!! LOL). When we go to Water Tower, we usually eat at the foodlife place. It's a HUGE food court type of place, where you can pick out what you want at each of the vendors. Kind of expensive (for a food court) but always a treat. Also, if you go on a Saturday, the Hancock Center is very close by and they have a very good brunch on Saturdays, plus you get a wonderful view of the city as it is on the 95th floor (it was about $13 a person last time we went down). If you don't eat there, it is worth taking the elevator up there just for the view! Have a good time in Chicago! :)

Also if you don't eat at Cheesecake Factory (be prepared to wait a while - it's a very popular place to eat on the weekends) and don't get dessert - there is also a Ghiradelli's Soda Fountain down and over by the old Water Tower (yummy ice cream sundaes and candy!!!!).

Also at 900 N Michigan Avenue there are shops and restaurants around there too!

SSB used to love "Water Tower", when he lived in Chicago. Even during my two recent trips to Chicago, had to stop by BOTH times, to just hang out at SSB's old stomping ground... Water Tower Place. Love Marshall Fields in particular.

Basically across the street is my old church, called "Fourth Presbyterian Church" ... if you get a chance to stop by to look at, please do. It really is a beautiful sanctuary, quite a "sacred space" in SSB's book. Was to be an Elder there, until transfered to Orlando.

Have a great time... wish that SSB was going also!!!!

:) :) :)

SSB-I'll definately stop in at the church when I'm in Chicago in November. We'll be staying at the Westin right across from the Water Tower.

Anyone who's gonna be in Chicago in the November time-frame might want to consider going to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival...always a good time: they have a Disney parade where Mickey Mouse lights the Mag Mile and a great fireworks display s well as lots of things going on at Pioneer Court, decorations up in the stores... It is always held the Saturday *before* Thanksgiving. Last year it was actually 70 degrees out for this, but I do remember *freezing* in the past!!! Hope the weather holds for this year!!!

Cool, Lars!

A link below.... the first sanctuary was built and destroyed the year of the Great Chicago Fire! Make sure to check out the very neat fountain area outside of the church. I remember serving refreshments there for the MEGA crowds described above for the big Christmas parade. That can be a very wild time.
