I'm staying at OKW, is it acceptable to watch Wishes from the beach at Poly? Do you get the full experience (all the sights and sounds) if you do? I have an earlier seating at Ohana on one of my non park days, if I were to switch it to a later time would I be able to see it for sure, or are there "good" and "bad" seats for veiwing it? Thanks!!

Although many will tell you that they've been told that it's OK, there is a sign posted on the beach that says it's for the excusive use of registered guests of the Polynesian.

If you are watching Wishes from the beach, there isn't any music. I've heard that they pipe the music into Ohana's though. We saw it from the Poly beach and from the MK last week, and it was definitely more magical from the Mk.

Thanks. Can anyone tell me about Ohana then? Should I bother to change my PS time so we can watch Wishes, or is it the luck of the draw?

I have watched from the beach, but I think it was better before Wishes. With Wishes the music is such a big part of the show that being able to hear is important.

Not sure about the resturant as I have never eaten at it.

Last December I watched it from the beach (I didn't see a sign and I wasn't a guest). I sat right next to one of the speakers where you could hear everything.

So now I'm confused- there are speakers to hear the music from? I'm still hoping someone will be able to answer my Ohana question. Thanks to all who have replied!

I don't think all seating at Ohana's has a view of Wishes so it wouldn't be guaranteed. You can try to get a seating without a guarantee of seeing it but at 23 days out, those time frames could easily be taken by people who have the same idea.

Our seating is for 7:20, so if we get a good seat, maybe we could just eat reeeaaallly sloooow... Just kidding! I'll call and see if I can change it, if not, we'll stick to our plans and watch from MK.

When you check-in at O'hana's for your PS you would have to make a request then for a window seat to view Wishes. They will not take requests when you make your PS, nor will they guarantee a window seat.

If I were you I wouldn't watch from the restaurant... I'd rather watch from the beach or from the park. The view from Ohana is OK, not great. First choice would be going to MK after dinner and watching right there in the magic of it all. :)

My understanding is the music is no longer played at the beach in the on ground speakers. I guess too many complaints about crowds watching there instead of going to the Magic Kingdom.

If I was a guest at the Polynesian I would enjoy the fireworks, but if not a guest then to me it is not worth the hassle of driving over there to eat just to catch the fireworks.

You truly do not get the total effect of this magnificient presentation unless you are in the Magic Kingdom. The suggestion to have dinner and then go to the Magic Kingdom is a good one, just make sure if you drive you know you only get a 3 hour parking pass.

My recent experience (March) suggests that the music is still piped to the beach but NOT 'Ohana (notice the spelling people :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:).

When we stayed there, you could faintly hear the music. They pipe it into the quiet pool so on the beach you can hear it faintly. We loved watching it from the balcony of our room in Hawaii. I agree though that the most magical place to watch it is from within MK. You can't see Tinkerbell from the beach.

Music is still at the beach but turned down and it takes a Pirate to spell 'Ohana right.

O'hana's is that Irish pub down the street :earboy2:

Sunset point has a great location to see the fireworks. You can kind of hear the music. We did this about 3 nights last time at the poly. Bring a blanket to sit on.

Now O'hana's, we requested a window seat and we got it. but it was almost the very back of the restaurant. No magical view and the music wasn't that lound in the place. If you get a FRONT window seat, it would be worth it. I tend to go with the flow and didn't stress over it. Mk is still the best spot to watch. Hey, either choice you make at least your still there at WDW.

Definitely go to the Magic Kingdom to see Wishes. There are too many special effects that will be missed if you view it from outside the MK.

We stayed at the Poly last week (switched from AKL for those keeping track) and watched from the beach in front of our building, Tahiti. This is the last building next to the Trans Center. We had a great view but did not hear any music. We were suprise to see only a few families on the beach and did not see any signs.

After the show we were walking back to our room and did hear the music from the Electrical Light Parade (not real name) on the lagoon. We did not realize the parade was still operating and watched it from our balcony.
