Question About Using Old-Style Hopper-Pass

Pardon me if this question been asked/answered before. I did a quick search and didn't find what I was looking for. I have a couple of old passes left from my last trip, which was 5+ yrs ago. The passes were cardstock, with a black stip that you swiped in a machine. The tickets states it does not expire. I'm going to be in Orlando in a couple weeks and want to go to MK for one day. Does anybody have any experience using a pass after this long? Also, the passes are in my maiden name (they only have the last name on them, no first names), since the trip was before I got married. Do I need proof that it was mine. Are they transferable? The other passes were my parents, but my DH is coming with me. My mother came across them they other day. We are not even positive if there are any days left on them, except she doesn't think she would have kept them if they were used up. I appreciate any help. I was fully intending on buying tickets when I got there, so if I have to it is okay too, just want to know if it is worth trying! Thanks!

Old passes with just one or a few days left are terrific for short vacations.

Card stock passes with the black magnetic strip are still the standard. Yours will work the same way as it did 5 years ago.

For good measure, to reduce the chances of time consuming delays, bring along some ID such as an expired drivers license with your former name on it.

There may be some benefit in trading up the old pass towards the price of a new expiring pass that covers an entire vacation, but you can't compute that until you get there and see a ticket booth agent. If you are planning for the future and buying multi-day non-expiring passes, the old pass should be kept as-is and not traded up.

If your ticket is more than a year old, it is worth MUCH more as is than as a trade in!

Thanks for all the help--I was thinking it wasn't worth the trouble. Now I will definately try to use the old passes!

I would suggest going to a Guest Services station before getting in the admission line. They can check to see what you have left on all of those old tickets so there is no uncertainty when you go to gain admission to a park.

What a great find. I found old tickets like that a couple of years ago.

You shouldn't have to worry about the name on the ticket for the old hopper style, because they have the name of the person who "bought" them. (All our old tickets have my name and I bought them for our entire family and a teen guest.) With the new MYW tickets, each ticket has a name of the person "using" the ticket and will have bimetrics taken, but not the old tickets that can be used by anyone in your party. You can check at guest services at the park to see how many days are left on the tickets.
