Question about using holding points

Question for the experts:

I have a reservation for August 29-September 3 using current-year, non-home resort points. I made the reservation 5 months out.

I also have 42 points in holding.

Could I, come July 1 (or so...whenever the exact 60-day window opens) substitute my holding points for my current year points?

I'm pretty sure I can cancel 42 points worth of nights reserved and rebook them, using my holding points (assuming availability, of course)...

But is it possible to simply reallocate the points w/out having to go through canceling/rebooking?

Yes you can but only if there is availability at that resort. If the resort is soldout for your dates and room type, they will not do it. It would defeat the purpose of the holding 60 day limit if they allowed you to do that.

Which resort and room size/view is it? That is a slow time for DVC.

Yes, I have some (small) hope that I can make this work...my 8/29-9/3 trip includes two studios at OKW...42 points would require 3 days of availability over the five-day period...

Well, I won't know for another 2 weeks (give or take) when my 60-day window opens...
