Hi all,
I have a June UY and need to bank my remaining '10 points by Jan 31 if I want to bank them. I was thinking of trying to take a trip to the world this coming Sept or Oct but am not sure if I can swing the time off work.
My question is this:
If I book a trip (and not bank my points) and then need to cancel the trip, the points can no longer by banked and I would need to use the points by May 31 2011, correct?

And if I bank the points and then am able to go, I could borrow points from 2012 (making sure I use the banked points by May 31, 2012)?

Does this sound correct?

In order to even use those points for a Sept/Oct 2011 trip, you have to bank them. They are 2010 UY points and the trip you are talking about takes place in your 2011 UY. The only way they will be valid for that travel is to be banked.

Once banked, they will then expire May 31st, 2012 if you cancel that trip.

At this time , those points can only be used for travel from now until May 31st, 2011 unless you bank them into your 2011 UY.

Everything is based on what UY your travel is falling and not what UY you are in when calling to make the reservation.

Are you intending to take a trip to WDW before May 31, 2011?

If you answer that question no then you must bank those 2010 points by January 31. Forget about everything else you are considering in deciding to do that.

A Sep/Oct 2011 trip will occur in your June 2011 to May 2012 use year. Your "current" use year points for that trip will be those coming June 2011. To use June 2010 points for that trip you must bank them. That you may call today, and thus have today's date, to make the reservation has absolutely nothing to do with which points you use for the trip or whether you have to bank them. In determining which points you will use and whether you have to bank look always at the dates you will be at WDW and remove from your mind any thoughts about the date you call to reserve.
