Question about using Banked points

I have a question about using banked points. We are hoping to be new DVC members, as we are waiting to close on resale points from the Timeshare Store, with a Nov (?) use year (our points are available on Dec. 1st). However, we will have 150 banked points available to us after closing that we will lose on Dec. 1st if we don't use them.

My question is this…we are planning an early Dec. trip, arriving on Nov. 30th. Can we use the points that will be expiring on Dec. 1st, as long as we start using them before they expire? Or does the entire trip have to be within the year (before Dec. 1st?)

You would only be able to use the points for one night...the night of the 30th. Now, my question is, are the points you think are expiring on 11/30 this year 2007 use year points or 2006 use year points? If they are banked points from 2006, yes then they will definitely expire on November 30, 2008. If they are 2007 December use year points, you can still bank them into your 2008 use year and have a double ration of points to use between Dec.1, 2008 and Nov. 30, 2009.

They were banked from 2006. So unfortunately, it seems we won't be able to use these points for our trip in Dec. I guess we'll have to take another, earlier trip to use them up

Also, those early weeks in December, are extremely difficult to get reservations for...

Either that, or you could rent them for this summer. That would help pay for your first year's maintenance fees and maybe your closing costs. Do you have no 2007 points? I'm not sure how that could be. If you DO have 2007 points, make sure you bank those now to use for your 2008 December trip. That will give you two years of points for this trip. Also, better get it booked ASAP, because that 11 month booking window is well past.
