Question about US tickets and transportation

We will be heading to DW in December and would like to visit US for a day. I seen here on the DIS boards under transportation that you can purchase a 1 day/2 park pass which includes roundtrip transportation to US from your Disney resort. Does this mean that if we are staying on-site at Disney, they will still be able to pick us up? And if anyone has ever done this, what time do they come to get you? I would really like to go to US for two days, but really not wanting to rent a car to get there, since there will be 6 of us. What could I do, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You can get a taxi van. Trip is about $35 each way. Divided by 6, that's not bad.
