I am going in February as part of a school group. We have three day park hoppers bought through the TA as a package. Can I upgrade those tickets to non-expiring 10 day park hoppers so I can finish my week there and then my trip next December?

Yes, you can upgrade them as long as they are normal, usual tickets and not part of something like a convention or a special promotion. If you just bought them as part of a usual package then they are upgradable.

As far as I know, however, you must upgrade them before they are totally used up. In other words, if I'm correct, you can't use up all three days and then try to upgrade them.

Also, run the numbers to make sure that buying the no-expiration option is worth it to you financially. Sometimes it is, but sometimes it's a bad deal.

Let me try to explain what I mean money-wise,

For 3-day hoppers, you paid $237. For $255, only $18 more, you can upgrade them to 7-day hoppers.

To upgrade them to 10-day non-expiring hoppers will be $416, meaning you'll shell out $179 more than you already did. The 10-day non-exp. hopper will cost you $161 more than the 7-day hopper that will expire.

So you'd be paying $161 extra to have 3 days leftover for the future. For your next trip, this would be a savings of $76 over buying new 3-day hoppers. The question is, when is your next trip? If it's going to be a long time, think about if you want to give Disney an interest-free loan during that span of time. But if it's only going to be a few months, then I think it's a good deal.

Me? I'd stick to spending only $18 more to upgrade the tickets for my current length-of-stay, because I'm not into loaning money to Disney. But I know there are those who disagree with me.

Tickets may have days added to them (so the total days of entitlements is no more than ten) even after all days have been used. I have had people with a change of plans come on day four with a fully used threew day ticket and had no problem in adding the 4th day.

Any adding of days must be done within 14 days of first use, and unless the NE option is purchased all entitlements will die at the end of the 14th day after first use.

Ticket prices have risen with or faster than the amount of interest you could get on the money by putting it in a bank account as opposed to buy non-expiration.

But the real killer is that, should the leftover non-expiring days not fully cover some future vacation, the additional ticket you need to buy will cost the usual top dollar ($70. or so incl. tax) for its first day which might by your fifth day. Meanwhile the fifth day of a brand new expiring ticket, had you not paid for non-expiring leftovers, costs only about $5. or so.

Although some brochures also state the cost of non-expiration per day such as $16.10 per day for ten days, the real cost of non-expiration is spread out only over the leftover days. For four days remaining on a 10 day pass, the cost of non-expiration is really $40.25 per day. (Assuming $161. for non-expiration on a 10 day pass.)

Thanks for the info. Here is what we have and what we are going to need.
We are getting three day park hoppers .I really think we will only use 2 days since one day will be a Sea World Day then HDDR dinner show. The school group leaves on Thursday night but my family and I wanted to stay and go to so I need to add at least 1 day if not two to the park hopper. I have tried to figure this out for myself and havent had any luck. What would it cost me to add 1-2 days per hopper, no expiration.

we booked through a travel agent, there was a group rate package. I didnt know if those could be upgraded or not.
