Question about Universal Gift Cards

Okay, so I found and ought some Universal Gift Cards. However, my questions is this....

The 16 digit gift card number is exposed for anyone to see on the bottom of the gift card. Has anyone ever had an issue with someone using the gift card that you bought? Or do you need the 8 digits under the scratch off part to be able to use it? I was just a little taken by surprise that the gift card numbers are like that.

I bought them at Target and was able to save my 5%. Just a little concerned.

You can't use the cards online, so someone would actually have to have your physical card to use it.
