Question about traveling with a Preemie

I have a question about traveling with our Preemie. We had this trip planned before we knew he would be born early. It is for my nephew's 6th birthday. Our baby just turned one but we still have to be very careful of germs. We are hoping to get a 'stroller as wheelchair' pass because this would help us a ton in limiting his exposure to germs and other people. Has anyone done anything similar or had any difficulties?

Check in post #6 in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. It talks about Guest Assistance Cards (GACs), including using a stroller as a wheelchair.

When are you going and how old will the baby be?

Other things to think about besides germs are how warm or cold it will be and sun exposure. For those things, the GAC or using a stroller as a wheelchair won't help because they are things that are present outside of lines/attractions. It will be important to make sure that your stroller has a good sun shield.

We are going April 21-27. Our stroller has a great sunshade that goes 360 degrees to block no matter where the sun is shining. He will be almost 14 months old.

Something else that you might want to think about also is using a carrier for the baby. We used them for our twins when they were 13 months old and it worked out great. They were easier to handle and when getting on and off rides and during rides they were contained in their carrier so not so much of them trying to touch or chew on things they shouldn't. The kids also loved being up higher and seeing more when in the carrier, when awake. I don't know about your little one, but ours at that age slept quite a bit in their strollers.

If you carry your little one people are also less apt to come up and get in the babies face. You know how us ladies are about babies. They tend to turn most of us to mush and were kind of drawn to them. With the baby so close to a adult, people are more apt to back off a bit, compared to being in a stroller.

I agree.
When my girls were little, we used a carrier a lot and I did have yougest DD in a carrier a lot on her first trip to WDW when she was 11 months old.

I would maybe not suggest it in July or August because you and the baby would both get very hot

But, it should work well in April.

a beco if he needs more head support or a ergo (both have hoods)

Thanks! We were already thinking of using a carrier in addition to the stroller. Can you use the carrier on most rides or is there anywhere that states the rides you can and cannot use it on?

There is not any place that states it, but in general , you would be able to ride most things that do not have a height requirement.
