Question about transportation from Swan

Now...I have stayed at the Dolphin before and have used the transportation but then I wasn't familiar with the Park nor the rides(2000 was my first trip back to WDW, except for MK since 1987)

I know that the transportation from the Swan to Epcot leaves you at the Internatinal Gateway but I would rather start my "exploring" at future world. I have a couple of questions....

1) If entering the Int'l gateway, Do you enter before everyone else at the Main entrance.

2) If I decided to just enter through the int'l gateway would it make THAT big of difference when I head straight to future world(lines for the rides)

3) If I REALLY wanted to enter through Future World How do I do that......Could I walk from the Int'l Gateway To the MAIN entrance before opening??? Is walking around the outside of Epcot even possible???

Sorry if these sound dumb but I'm trying to do a little of day planning and had questions.

BTW...I will be heading to Epcot for EMH and on AUG 18th(the day before my birthday )

I think I understand what you are asking so I'll take a stab at answering you. As you said the boats (or walking) takes you from the Swan to the Gateway entrance. In the morning the restaurant/shops in the IG area are not open - you just walk through to Future World. It is actually pretty cool to walk through like that then - very peaceful.
I don't see any advantage to trying to go around to the main gate area of FW - I wouldn't bother. We stayed at the Swan last summer and really enjoyed it and our time at Epcot. Have fun!

It's my understanding that the only way to get the main gate of epcot from the Swan is by private car or cab.

DH and I are looking forward to hiking through the park in two weeks.

I know what your asking...and unfortunetly you are allowed into the entrance of the international gateway at the EXACT opening time!! The attendants (cm's) are not in any kind of radio contact with the main(future world) entrance ....they just go off there watch times. Unfortunetly this entrance puts you further away from future world and you will arrive after the front gate people do. We were at the BC and did the back door(international gateway entrance) 1 x for EMH and 1 time at regular park openeing time. We were there in Jun 04.

You could take a bus to MK, monorail to TTC and then monorail to Epcot 'front' entrance.

I hope somebody will correct me if I am wrong - according to an older transportation guide there is a bus from MGM to Epcot. So I think the quickest route to Epcot main gate (other than taxi or your car) would be to walk or boat to MGM, then take the bus.

That bus is usually the quickest way to get from MGM to FW in Epcot, but I doubt if it would be running in time for EMH??
