Question about transferring a magic band to another family member

We are leaving for Disney World in a couple of days. I rented DVC points for our room, purchased tickets, made fast passes and dining reservations months ago. My daughter, who is in college, has decided that she can no longer miss a few classes to go with us. I had already purchased tickets and made fast passes in her name. Now my son, who is also in college, has decided at the last minute that he can go with us. He is not on our original reservations, but would like to go in my daughter's place. Can he use her ticket? I am not asking if they can split the ticket, but can i transfer all her passes to him? I have seen the option on MDE to transfer the ticket to another person. I am just concerned that if i start the process of changing it to his name, then will I lose all of her fast passes that were under her name. Would it be better just to leave it in her name, but let him use it? If I do this, will the computer somehow notice that her fingerprint has changed from the magic bands under her name from previous visits? Sorry so many questions. So confused!!

He definitely can't use her ticket in her name. He can't get into park with her magic band. That I know for sure. I can't answer what happens to the fast passes when you switch from hers to his name on ticket. I would phone and ask

Just have your son use the MagicBand to enter the parks and FP lines.

Do not worry about changing names. If it bothers you, EDIT the MDE Profile and change the name from your daughter's to your son's.

Because the ticket entitlements are newly purchased, your son's biometric will become linked the first time he enters a park using the MagicBand.

You do not need to add him to the room reservation. He will be good to go to vacation with you.

just have him use her magic band and take her place like post said before no need to change anything on reservation id be scared too of losing those fast passes, but basically as long as he uses her band and account it will work smoothly wonder what color band your daughter chose lol

Yes, he can. The ticket hasn't been used by anyone so there is no problem with someone other than the person named using it.

yeah as long as he uses the magic band associated with that account and she's not going to be there it will work

Does your daughter have her own MDE profile linked to your account, or do you manage her profile under your account? Does she have other bands, or is this her one and only?

You can create a profile for your son and transfer the ticket. You can add him to the reservation (well, you'd have to get the DVC owner to do that), and then he'd get a band at check-in.

When you reserve a package and give everyone's name, can someone different use the magic band associated with a name though? I didn't think so.

The only problem I would see with letting it in her name would be if there is a problem with the ticket and you have to go to guest relations, then it would become evident that the person using the ticket is not your daughter...

Since the ticket is unused, you can transfer the ticket to him, but I'm pretty sure the FP's would not follow.

How is anyone going to know?

Not really. Names & appearance don't always match in terms of gender, if that's what you're thinking. Nobody would question this.

That's why the name can be EDITED in MDE. The ticket doesn't need to be transferred.

The CMs don't care what name is attached to an MDE Profile. Yesterday, I used FPs that were booked for RedMB.

I would just leave it as is. As long as you aren't trying to have two people use one ticket (which you aren't) or sneak an extra guest into your room (which you aren't), it really doesn't matter what name is listed on MDE as long as the ticket he is using has never been used. When you show up at your first park and he scans the band, he will place his finger on the scanner and it will tie HIS fingerprint to THAT ticket. Thereby making that ticket non-transferrable AT THAT POINT. That's it. Who cares if the name "Tina" shows up on the screen instead of "Bob". It won't matter. Just give him his sister's MB and enjoy your trip!

But if the daughter already has a MB and fingerprint on file from a previous trip, and this new one is linked to her, then surely no one besides her can use it?

Can you not ring rese various and change the name on the reservation? Then it should change everything?

Fingerprints are tied to individual ticket media, not to MBs. If this ticket is unused, it has no associated fingerprint.

I was in almost exactly the same situation for a family trip a few weeks ago. I called Guest Services a few days ahead, explained the situation, and a wonderful cast member had everything moved from my son's to my daughter's name in about 20 minutes. They even had a new personalized magic band waiting for her at the front desk, but it was grey so she preferred her old one from a previous trip.
